The so-called "precepts" are actually Buddhist concepts, such as the five precepts, the ten precepts, the bodhisattva vows, and so on.

Legend has it that at the beginning of the establishment of Buddhism, there were no precepts, and later with the increase in the number of monks and the need for practice, the Buddha began to formulate a variety of different precepts, and reminded them to take the precepts as teachers.

It can be seen that the precepts are indeed very important in Buddhism.

So, what are the ten precepts that Buddhism talks about?

The ten precepts mentioned by Buddhism mainly refer to the precepts recorded in the "Precept Sutra", also known as the "Ten Precepts", "Ten Virtuous Precepts", "Ten Virtuous Precepts", "Ten Virtuous Precepts", "Ten Fundamental Precepts" and so on. These are the ten precepts that Buddhism has summarized according to the importance of the precepts, including the rules of conduct that followers need to follow in their daily lives.

Let's introduce the specific content of the ten precepts in Buddhism, namely:

One is not to kill. This precept states that no sentient beings, including humans and animals, shall be harmed or killed.

The second is not to steal. Believers should be warned not to steal property, and to uphold morality and social order based on good faith.

The third is not to commit sexual immorality. Abstaining from lustful practices and guarding against sexual immorality is said to be the first precept made by the Buddha.

Fourth, do not lie: be cautious in your mouth, be cautious in your words and deeds, and do not tell lies or slander others.

Fifth, do not drink alcohol: avoid getting drunk so as not to confuse the mind and harm yourself and others.

Sixth, no intimidation: It is forbidden to threaten or intimidate others in any form.

Seventh, do not slander: abstain from bad words and do not slander others at will.

Eight is not **: quit indulgence and keep the body and mind pure.

The ninth is not to be greedy: quit greed, be content and be happy.

10. Do not have delusions: Quit delusions and evil thoughts, and maintain a calm state of mind.

These are the basic contents of the Ten Precepts, and they are the guidelines that Buddhists should follow on their spiritual path.

Buddhists believe that by observing the Ten Precepts, one can purify one's mind, improve one's spiritual realm, and benefit sentient beings. At the same time, these precepts are also an important part of the "three learnings" (precepts, concentration, and wisdom) in Buddhist teachings, and have important guiding significance for the daily life and practice process of Buddhist believers.
