Pothos is the most common plant in our daily life, even for people who don't like to raise flowers, there will be more or less pots at home or unit. Pothos potted plants themselves are foliage plants, we maintain it mainly to appreciate the leaves, and the role of pothos in purifying the air also depends on the leaves to absorb the exhaust gas in the air, so the number of leaves of pothos is very important.
Some flower friends feedback that the leaves of pothos are always not big, in fact, it is because the usual maintenance is not in place, do the following 3 points, the leaves are wide and fat, thick and shiny!
1. Supplemental light
Many people have the impression that pothos is a shade-loving plant that likes to grow in a shady environment. While this idea is not wrong, it is not entirely correct. Pothos is indeed suitable for growing in a shady environment, and its leaves are easily sunburned if exposed to strong light, resulting in a large area of yellowing and wilting. But that doesn't mean pothos doesn't need light at all. Photosynthesis is the basis of plant growth, if the light is too weak, pothos will not be able to carry out full photosynthesis, and the synthesis of chlorophyll will be affected, which will lead to small leaf growth, gray leaf color, and poor ornamentation.
In winter, the sun's ultraviolet rays are the weakest of the year, so you don't have to worry about sunburning. Because the sun's rays are particularly soft, after directly basking in the sun for pothos, it can promote the photosynthesis of leaves, promote the generation of chloroplasts, and make the leaves of pothos wider and thicker, and the leaf color is green. Of course, when spring comes, after the sun's rays become stronger, it is better to put the pothos in the semi-shade and maintain it properly.
2. Supplement fertilizer appropriately
As long as the temperature at home is above 10 degrees, pothos can grow normally, and as long as it grows, it needs to consume nutrients. Fertilizing pothos is a matter that requires great care. If the pothos is fertilized too little, the plant will not get enough nutrients and the leaves will grow very small. At the same time, pothos is a plant that is not tolerant of thick fertilizer, if the amount of fertilizer is too much, it is easy to cause fertilizer damage, resulting in yellowing and wilting of leaves, damage to the root system, and even plant death.
In winter, when the temperature at home is above 10 degrees and the pothos grows normally, we can fertilize it to supplement nutrients, but not too much fertilizer, so as not to cause fertilizer damage. It is recommended that you use the nutrient solution of leafy plants (as long as it is a regular brand), dilute it with water according to the proportion of the instructions to make a fertilizer solution, and water the root system of pothos with the fertilizer solution, and use it about once every 15 20 days.
3. Keep the air moist
Pothos prefers a moist environment, but overly moist soil can cause root rot, while overly dry soil can impair root growth. Therefore, it is very important to control soil moisture properly.
Autumn and winter are relatively dry, and there are heating equipment such as heating and air conditioning at home, which will make the indoor air dry while dissipating heat for heating. The leaves of pothos are exposed to dry air for a long time, which will cause leaf dehydration, slight leaf dehydration is only the tip of the leaf is dry and yellow, and severe leaf dehydration will cause a large area of leaf yellowing and drying. Therefore, after entering the winter, it is recommended that everyone pay attention to the position of the pothos, avoid the heating around, and avoid the air conditioning outlet. Prepare a watering can and spray the branches and leaves of pothos every morning and evening to keep the small environment moist enough.
