The Jibao Express Railway, also known as the second double line of the Jibao Railway, is located between Ulanqab City and Baotou City in Inner Mongolia.

Baotou, also known as Jiuyuan and Lucheng, is the largest industrial city in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and prefecture-level city. Mongolian (transliteration) "Baoketu", which means "place with deer", was a large primeval forest behind Baotou in the early days, and was the habitat of a large number of wild deer, from which the name "Baotou" comes from.

In 1946, Baotou City was established, which belonged to Suiyuan Province. In 1954, Suiyuan Province was abolished and merged into the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, followed by Baotou City.

Baotou's famous scenic spots include: Xilamuren Grassland, Northern Weapons City, "Top of Deer City, Grassland in the Clouds", Hongger, Silk Road Dream County, "Legend of Monan", South China Sea Wetland, Qin Great Wall Ruins, Kunlun International Ski Resort, Baotou Flower Dance World, Yellow River Bridge, Alding Square, etc.

The second double line of Jibao, along the existing Beijing-Baotou railway Jining to Baotou section of parallel laying, started on April 1, 2009, October 19, 2012 the whole line paved, November 1 to complete the catenary power supply, November 30 officially opened for operation. The line starts from Ulanqab in the east, along the Bawang River and the Dahei River, all the way to the west, passing through the front banner of the right wing of Chahar, Zhuozi County, Hohhot City, Tumote Left Banner, Tumote Right Banner, and finally arrives at Baotou City. With the opening of the second double line, it means that the separation of passengers and freight between packages is realized, and the original railway has officially become a freight line. The initial design speed of the second double line is 160 kilometers per hour, and the speed improvement conditions are reserved for 200 kilometers. On May 20, 2014, the speed-up transformation project was officially launched, and the transformation was completed on December 31, since then, the second double line of the package has the conditions for the operation of the train, the running speed of the train has increased from 160 kilometers to 200 kilometers, and the general speed railway has been directly upgraded to a high-speed railway.

The total length of the line is 308 kilometers, and the current standard is: national railway first-class, double-line, electric traction, ballasted track, automatic blocking, and the design speed is 200 kilometers per hour. There are 4 new stations, namely: Zhuo Zidong, its Yingdong, Sambu Su and Nanyuan Village;There are 12 stations, namely Jining South, Hulu, Taobuqi, Baita, Hohhot East, Hohhot, Hohhot West, Taigemu, Chasuqi, Salaqi, Baotou East and Baotou.

The package express railway is interconnected with Zhanghu passenger special (Zhangjiakou to Hohhot) in Hohhot;In Hohhot, it is interconnected with the Hohhot Hubei Express Railway (Hohhot to Zhungerqi to Ordos).

After the speed of the second double line of Jibaoji, the original intercity express train of Hubaoji was suspended, and Ulanqab officially entered the era of bullet trains, which suddenly shortened the travel time between the two places to less than two hours, making the convenient and fast "public transportation" travel between Ulanqab, Hohhot and Baotou a reality.

I have to admit that our country's high-speed rail development is too fast, how proud ten years ago, how lonely it is today, seeing the rapid progress of high-speed rail construction in surrounding cities, Beijing-Zhangjiakou high-speed railway (Beijing to Zhangjiakou), the design speed of 350 kilometers per hour, Daxi passenger train (Datong to Xi'an) and Yinxi passenger train (Yinchuan to Xi'an), the design speed is 250 kilometers per hour, which inevitably makes it sandwiched in the middle, the speed of only 200 kilometers per hour of the second double line of the package is somewhat dwarfed, the most embarrassing situation is likely to become the northern city high-speed rail network"Bottleneck". In the long run, from Jining to Baotou, it is still necessary to build a real high-speed railway.
