A car enthusiast from Poland compared his once passer-by Mercedes-Benz CLK 200 – not the coveted black series model, but a good 18-liter supercharged four-cylinder engine – turned into a beast. This version is not new, but it has evolved over the years.
The most important part of this build is the engine replacement, but before we get there, let's take a look at the long history of this merc replacement powertrain. The original 1The 8-liter M271 four-cylinder engine was abandoned in favor of the 2A 3-liter turbocharged M111 inline-four engine that produces 450 horsepower. This is followed by the larger M104 3A 2-liter supercharged inline-six engine with 520 hp.
Edit Search Edit Search Edit Search In its current form, the CLK 200 is now powered by the M104 36-litre stroke inline-six engine drive. Admittedly, the M104 is already one of the best inline-six engines ever made, but this build takes it to another level.
The engine now produces 700 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque. These impressive numbers are thanks to the Garrett GTX3582R turbocharger, which provides 22 psi of boost to the engine. The Bosch 980cc injector further strengthens the motor. It also features a larger radiator, oil cooler, and several other items needed to cool down the upgraded powertrain.
Externally, the car has a rather threatening appearance, with its wide fenders and an all-black body color. It features 18-inch wheels and includes a set of Brembo brake discs and calipers. As you can see, it's also smashed close enough to the ground, so it's hard for even an ant to get underneath.
Overall, this CLK 200 version was raised to the same level as more powerful cars like the Mercedes-AMG SL63. It likewise blows the original 342-horsepower AMG version of the CLK out of the water.
Unfortunately, the black beast is not shown doing its thing on the road. They did, however, do do some dynamometer testing on it.
You can hear the screams of this car's glorious inline-six engine as it tries to release an impressive number. It sounds pleasant, but after reaching the old 5 of AMG4 litre supercharged v8 and newer 4It still has a way to go before the deafening roar of the 0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine.
