In the Kuantan area of Malaysia, there is the Hok Mei Brothers Building, which is a symbol of local memory, and its historic appearance and unique atmosphere are even more precious today.
There is a room in the buildingElliot Cafe is located here in the collective memory of Kuantan residents, located on the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia, along the main street Jalan Bekhat, a historic town with a mix of Malay, Chinese, Indian and colonial architectural styles, and an equally diverse and unique food scene. The exterior of the building has three-dimensional protruding multi-prismatic windows that provide lighting and ventilation and a sense of discreet design.
Unlike other renovations, the historic building doesn't need flashy design, just renovate as much as possible with the building materials, the ground floor, which used to be an office space, has been transformed into a low-key ornate element of white, beige and emerald green agate, the counter walls are inlaid with agate tiles to set off the soft light, the prismatic curves of the windows that mimic the exterior of the building, the beautiful chandeliers and restored wooden shutters are among the highlights of the café.
Carefully cleaned bright red wooden plaques with golden Chinese characters were replaced on the west wall at the suggestion of a feng shui master, and behind the wooden louvered screen is a slightly lower ground floor dining room, and above the staircase, the former office and vault become a dining space overlooking the first floor.
ms.Elliot Cafe aims to be a café--restaurant and cultural hub where locals and visitors alike can come together to celebrate Kuantan's rich history and vibrant present, where they can sit, eat, and experience the bustle and life of Kuantan.
