On December 18, the pile foundation of the second phase expansion project of Zheneng Taizhou Second Power Generation Company started, and the project entered the substantive construction stage. The project plans to build two 1 million kilowatt ultra-supercritical secondary reheat coal-fired units, with an annual power generation capacity of about 10 billion kilowatt hours, and the new annual power generation capacity can meet the annual electricity consumption of 4 million households of three.

It is reported that the dynamic investment of the second phase of the expansion project of Zheneng Tai II is about 758.7 billion yuan (excluding supporting wharf projects), which was approved by the provincial government on July 21 this year, and is planned to be completed and put into operation in 2026.

The project is a key clean coal power project planned and constructed in Zhejiang Province during the 14th Five-Year Plan, and has been included in the province's "Green and Low-Carbon Energy and Supply and Price Stabilization Project", a major energy project of the "Thousands of Trillions Project" to expand effective investment, a pre-project of clean and efficient supporting power supply of "first establishment and then reform", and a provincial key construction pre-arrangement project.

The project is of great significance to respond to Zhejiang's rigid growth in electricity demand since the 14th Five-Year Plan, accelerate the construction of a new energy system in the province, optimize the energy structure, promote industrial upgrading, and help regional economic development. The relevant person in charge of Zheneng Group said.

Previously, two 1 million kilowatt ultra-supercritical coal-fired generating units of the first phase of the Tai II Power Project had been put into operation for many years, and the capacity was increased to two 1.05 million kilowatt units.
