Perkins engine won't start the problem.
First, the fault phenomenon.
A Perkins engine could not start, and when it was inspected, the following fault phenomena were found:
1.The engine shows no signs of starting, and the crankshaft does not turn;
2.The fuel system does not supply oil, and there is no fault code;
3.There is no suction at the engine intake, and there is no fault code;
4.The engine coolant temperature is too high and there is no fault code;
5.The engine oil pressure is insufficient and there are no fault codes.
2. Analysis of the cause of the failure.
In view of the above fault phenomena, we conduct the following cause analysis:
1.The reason why the crankshaft does not rotate may be due to damage to the internal parts of the engine or the seizure of external parts of the engine, which requires further inspection.
2.The reason for the non-supply of fuel to the fuel system may be a faulty fuel pump, a clogged fuel filter, or a leak in the oil circuit, etc., and the relevant parts of the fuel system need to be checked.
3.The cause of no suction at the engine intake may be a clogged air intake, a severely clogged air filter, or a leaking air intake duct, etc., and the relevant parts of the air intake system need to be checked.
4.The cause of high engine coolant temperature may be poor heat dissipation of the cooling system or damage to the internal parts of the engine, etc., and it is necessary to check the cooling system and internal engine parts.
5.The cause of insufficient engine oil pressure can be a faulty oil pump, a clogged oil filter, or a lack of oil in the oil pan, etc., and the oil system related parts need to be checked.
3. Troubleshooting methods.
Based on the above cause analysis, we carry out the following exclusion methods:
1.An inspection of the internal parts of the engine revealed that the crankshaft was broken, preventing the crankshaft from turning. Restart the engine after replacing the crankshaft, troubleshooting.
2.Inspect the fuel system and find that the fuel pump is not supplying properly due to a clogged fuel filter. Restart the engine after replacing the fuel filter and cleaning the oil circuit, troubleshooting.
3.Inspect the relevant parts of the air intake system and find that the air filter is severely clogged and the air inlet has no suction. Restart the engine after replacing the air filter, troubleshooting.
4.Inspect the cooling system and engine internals and see that the coolant temperature is too high due to a clogged radiator. Restart the engine after cleaning the radiator and checking the internal parts of the engine for troubleshooting.
5.Inspect the oil system and find that the oil filter is clogged and the oil pressure is insufficient. Restart the engine after replacing the oil filter, troubleshooting.
4. Summary and Suggestions.
Through the investigation and analysis of the failure of the Perkins engine to start, we found that the main causes of the failure were broken crankshafts, clogged fuel filters, severely clogged air filters, clogged radiators and clogged oil filters. In order to prevent the occurrence of similar failures, the following measures are recommended:
1.Conduct regular maintenance and inspection of the engine to ensure the normal operation of the internal and external parts of the engine;
2.Replace the fuel and air filters regularly to prevent clogging of the oil circuit and air intake system;
3.Regularly check the working condition of components such as radiators and oil filters to ensure the normal operation of the cooling system and oil system;
4.In daily use, pay attention to the working condition of the engine and the prompt information on the dashboard, and find and solve the problem in time.
