Chen Min said at the press conference on the progress and effectiveness of water conservancy infrastructure construction in 2023 held by the press office that from January to November, 2 new water conservancy projects were started across the country730,000, an increase of 2,585 over the same period last year, an increase of 105%, a record high. Among them, there are 1,879 projects with an investment scale of more than 100 million yuan, 528 more than the same period last year.
The construction of water conservancy projects has been accelerated in an all-round way, and a number of major projects have achieved important node goals. Chen Min said that since the beginning of this year, the second phase of the water supply project of Shaanxi and Gansu has been completed, and the water resources allocation project of Pingtan and Minjiang Estuary in Fujian and Huaqiao Reservoir in Jiangxi has been completed. Major projects such as the diversion of the middle route of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project to replenish the Han River, the second phase of the Huaihe River inletto, and the allocation of water resources around the Beibu Gulf have been accelerated.
Statistics show that since the beginning of this year, 3,628 sick and dangerous reservoirs have been reinforced, 999 small and medium-sized rivers have been rehabilitated, and 598 large and medium-sized irrigation areas have been constructed and modernized. As of the end of November, the number of new water conservancy projects started in Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Jilin and other provinces and municipalities that have suffered severe floods this year has increased by more than 10 percent over the same period last year, and they are making all-out efforts to promote the repair of water-damaged water conservancy facilities and post-disaster recovery and reconstruction.
At the same time, Chen Min said that the number of people employed by water conservancy construction has continued to increase, giving full play to the role of stabilizing employment.
