According to the German Press Agency on December 12, German Culture Minister Claudia Roth announced on the 12th that Tricia Tuttel from the United States will be the new president of the Berlin International Film Festival.
Tuttle was most recently the Director of the British Film Institute's London Film Festival. She will officially take over as president of the Berlinale in April next year.
According to the report, Tuttle will be outgoing artistic director Carlo Sartorian and executive director Marit Riesenbeck. Tschatrian and Riesenbeck have co-led the internationally renowned film festival since 2019.
A committee chaired by Roth has been looking for a suitable candidate for the Berlin International Film Festival. Also involved in the selection process were Oscar-winning director Eduard Berger, actress Sara Fazirat, producer Roman Paul and President of the German Film Institute Anne Lepin.
One of the goals of the Berlin International Film Festival is to maintain its international status and prestige. It is considered comparable to the Cannes Film Festival, the Venice Film Festival, and the Toronto Film Festival. (Compiled by Shen Jian).
