On December 15, the 4th China and International Development Forum was held in Beijing, at which the China and International Development Report: Perspectives and Prospects 2023-2024 was released.
Based on the latest situation and trends in China and international development, the report analyzes in detail the current opportunities and challenges, as well as the policy trends and practical characteristics of all partiesIt reviews the domestic and international events related to development cooperation since the end of World War II, and shows the origin, evolution, adjustment and changes of China's and international developmentIt will focus on the analysis of hot topics such as the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative, the "Debt Exhibition", "Child Development Cooperation", "Emergency Humanitarian Assistance", and "International Development Cooperation Assessment".
The report pointed out that in recent years, global development has faced multiple crises and challenges, and the scale of development cooperation funding has hit a record high, but the development financing gap is difficult to bridge, the tendency of Western aid and self-interest has intensified significantly, and the "Global South" has become a hot issue and has been endowed with the color of a great power game. As an ex-officio member of the Global South, China has accelerated the pace of international development cooperation, made positive progress in institutional mechanisms, rule of law, funding channels and assistance methods, and provided more public goods for global development.
The report analyzes the development challenges faced by Asia, Africa, the South Pacific island countries, and Latin America and the Caribbean, and elaborates on the trends of international development cooperation in these regions, as well as China's practices and contributionsFrom the perspective of international development cooperation providers, the special chapter analyzes the characteristics, current status and future trends of international development policies of major traditional donors and emerging donors.
The report also analyzes the international situation and development cooperation in each field one by one around the eight key areas of the Global Development Initiative, including poverty reduction, food security, health, financing for development, climate cooperation and green development, connectivity and industrialization, and reviews in detail China's assistance actions, achievements and positive contributions in the eight major areas since the Global Development Initiative was proposed, and makes prospects and suggestions for future development cooperation.
Starting from 2023, the Institute of International Development Cooperation of the Academy of Commerce of the Ministry of Commerce plans to release the China and International Development Report every year, and make a think tank contribution to the full implementation of the Global Development Initiative and the realization of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
