On December 13, 2023, the reporter saw a new variety of oyster mushroom in the industrial production workshop of Henan Century Fragrant Edible Mushroom Development, which is dense, thick and robust, dark gray in color, and large in flower shape, and Li Yanzeng, an expert of the Henan Province Edible Mushroom Joint Research Project Team, named it Xu Ping No. 69.

In 2022, led by the development of edible mushrooms in Henan Province, Henan Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Henan Agricultural University and other units participated in the formation of the Henan Provincial Edible Mushroom Varieties Joint Research Project Team, and implemented the "Breeding and Industrialization Project of Excellent Varieties of High-yield and Stress-resistant Oyster Mushroom". Through unremitting efforts, up to now, 6 new varieties of edible fungi have been selected and bred and approved by the state. Among them, the cultivated "Avatar" oyster mushroom Xu Ping No. 9 is blue, which is a rare color in China, opening a new world of colorful oyster mushroom breeding.

At a time when five new varieties such as Xuping No. 9 are about to be put into standardized, regionalized, modernized, and large-scale order production, processing and sales, the provincial edible fungus joint research project team has cultivated high-quality and efficient factory oyster mushroom Xuping No. 69. Xu Ping No. 69 mushrooms are neat, the slices are dense, the single slice is thick and strong, tough and the taste is smooth;The whole plant is compact, dark gray in color, short in growth cycle and high in yield.

Li Yanzeng said that the provincial edible fungus joint research project team should not only cultivate more agrochemical and industrial varieties that are resistant to stress and high quality and suitable for different cultivation modes, but also developed and summarized the planting technology and management process supporting the new varieties. In the next step, Century Xiang Company will take the lead in bringing new products to the market, and through a complete set of improved varieties and good methods, so that new products and new technologies can be demonstrated, promoted and applied to actual production, so that the production of oyster mushrooms can achieve high-quality development and make positive contributions to rural revitalization.
