Deionized water, also known as DI water, is a specially treated purified water in which most of the ions and impurities have been removed. Deionized water has a wide range of applications in laboratories, industrial production, medical, and many other fields. Here is the detailed way to make deionized water:

1.Raw water: Usually tap or distilled water.

2.Deionization resins: cation exchange resins and anion exchange resins.

3.Ion exchange columns: used to load deionized resins.

1.Pretreatment: If the raw water is tap water, it may need to be pre-treated, such as filtration, softening, etc., to remove impurities such as suspended solids, organic matter, and heavy metals.

2.Loading resin: Loading deionized resins in an ion-exchange column in the order of cationic resin-anionic resin. Once the loading is complete, rinse the resin with raw water to remove impurities and air bubbles from it.

3.Ion exchange: The pretreated raw water is passed into an ion exchange column filled with deionized resin. Cationic resins will adsorb cations (such as calcium, magnesium, sodium, etc.) in raw water, while anionic resins will adsorb anions (such as chlorine, sulfate, etc.) in raw water. In this way, most of the ions in the raw water are removed.

4.Monitoring & Adjustment: Monitor the quality of deionized water using equipment such as conductivity meters and pH meters. If the conductivity is too high or the pH is not suitable, the resin loading may need to be adjusted or recycled.

5.Storage & Use: The resulting deionized water is stored in a pressure vessel or storage tank for subsequent use. Care should be taken to wash the storage container regularly to avoid secondary contamination.

4.Quality control: The quality of deionized water should be monitored regularly with conductivity meters, pH meters and other equipment to ensure that it meets the requirements of use.

5.Wastewater treatment: The wastewater produced during the treatment process may contain high concentrations of ions and other impurities, which should be treated appropriately to avoid pollution to the environment.
