I like Zhang Suitao's essay collection "The Long Taste of Reading", and I like the calm and calm state between the lines.
Most of the dozens of essays in "The Taste of Reading" were published by Sui Tao in the "Reading on a Rainy Night" column opened up by the "People's Public Security Daily and Jianlan Weekly", which are the author's feelings and experiences on reading, buying and tasting books. Books are obviously indispensable to Sui Tao and have become a part of life. Sui Tao pursues the principles of knowledge, usefulness and interest in reading, and uses his own articles to pass on the joy of reading to more readers. In a sense, Sui Tao is like a hard porter, a wise man who spreads knowledge.
Come to think of it, this metaphor is actually inappropriate. The highest standard of a porter is to deliver the goods to the owner intact, but Sui Tao needs to integrate more of his own perception and understanding into his reading and writing. In fact, this kind of creation should be more effective than the so-called originality, because even if the author does not reach the level of command, at least he should be the icing on the cake. Thinking and summarizing between this is actually a time-consuming, laborious and brain-consuming thing. But Sui Tao did it, and did it willingly, very well, very well. Sui Tao brings more readers into the world of the book with his calm and slightly humorous narration. His efforts, like a trickle of water flowing through the world, do not seem to make any big waves, but they constitute the most precious style and connotation in the book "The Taste of Reading".
When it comes to reading, it often arouses the sentiments of many people of insight: in today's society, there are fewer people who read books, and there are fewer books worth reading, why is this the case in this era?In fact, it is better to face this complicated era calmly, like Sui Tao, to guide people to read, to teach people to read, to open the door of books, so that more people can get a glimpse of the world in books. This world is actually a reflection of the real world, a copy of the real world, and a more personalized perception of the real world by human beings. At the end of the day, it's an integral part of the real world. The ancients said that "read thousands of books and travel thousands of miles", which is really a truth, and the combination of learning and practice is clearly and thoroughly said by this sentence, and it could not be more clear. Reading 10,000 books is also traveling 10,000 miles;Traveling thousands of miles should be the verification and test of reading thousands of books. From an objective point of view, in fact, reading 10,000 books is the basis for traveling 10,000 miles, just like opening the navigation before we drive a long distance. Of course, this is also an inappropriate metaphor, navigation is practical and fast, but it cultivates the dependence of drivers, so that some people cannot drive without navigation. Reading is a soul-nourishing thing, it may not guide you to do a specific thing, but it can give you an insight into a certain type of thing.
If we talk about why there are fewer people reading now, it must be the current situation of the current era: impetuousness, anxiety, utilitarianism, indifference, ......Many factors have created a world that is constantly spinning like a kaleidoscope, and it has also created an inexplicable anger among people. And to read, and to be able to read it, you need to be calm, you need to concentrate, you need to be calm, you need to be calm, you need to be in the situation. Of course, the ancients understood this truth for a long time, and when they were reading, they would choose a quiet and elegant place, and they would have to burn incense and clean their hands. Of course, it is difficult to do this in today's society, but if you happen to see a attentive reader in the subway car, you will feel that this person is like a fire, he is igniting the civilized world.
Sui Tao is doing such a thing. He is a police officer by profession and a law enforcer who has studied law and practice hard. His living and working environment doesn't seem to give him much of an atmosphere for reading. But fate made Sui Tao a writer and a reader. This is obviously a rare thing. Like many people, Sui Tao rarely read books in his childhood, and the only few teaching materials of his uncle, who was a teacher, were actually Sui Tao's enlightenment books. Starting from these books, which are not strictly speaking, he gradually sank into the sea of books, and realized a truth from them: "Starting from words, it is people who arrive." Only with this understanding can it be related to one's own life, and there will never be an end to pursuit. "There is no end, it is naturally a process, and this process should be equal to a person's life. After reading Sui Tao's "The Long Taste of Reading", I still have one thought, that is, this process should be calm, otherwise it will be difficult to continue. This calm is like a continuous stream of water, even if it passes through the heat of the volcanic lava, it still retains a small but calm wave. In fact, it is not only reading, but also being a person at the moment, and the panacea for people to resist impetuousness may be inner peace. This kind of peace comes from faith, from cultivation, and from reading.
The ancients had Lianyun: "Every time there is a big event, there is calm, and I don't believe that there are no ancient sages today." This couplet was drafted by Weng Tong, the three emperors of the Qing Dynasty, and it is also said that it was written by Zeng Guofan. We don't pay attention to the so-called correct source, just say the connotation of these two sentences, maybe today we don't want to become the so-called ancient sages, but we still have to be a person who is knowledgeable and reasonable, a person with correct values. Books are undoubtedly the nourishment that shapes our souls for us. At the very least, it will calm us down, think about life, and gain insight into the world.
Reading Sui Tao's "The Long Taste of Reading", Lala Miscellaneous has the above feelings, so he calmly recounts it here. And, make a small plan in your mind, and read it again from tomorrow.
