In August 1975, Wang Ping succeeded Wang Liusheng as the political commissar of the Wuhan Military Region. Before taking office, Wang Ping went to meet Ye Shuai and asked for instructions on how the Wuhan Military Region worked
One day two years later, Wang Ping and Commander Yang Dezhi were learning about the situation in various units of the military region. At this time, the military region called to report that *** had arrived in Wuhan and asked them to return immediately.
**This time, I asked Wang Ping to serve as the political commissar of the General Rear Department. Before this, ** had talked to Zhang Zhen about the candidate for the political commissar of the General Logistics Department, why did Wang Ping finally finalize it?
In December 1958, Wang Ping was ordered to attend a working conference in Guangzhou. During this period, he received a notice to let him go to the Nanjing Military Academy as a political commissar. The current political commissar Zhong Qiguang has been transferred to work at the Academy of Military Sciences in Beijing.
After the meeting, Wang Ping took the train to Wuhan and happened to meet ** who was also there. **There is a special plane to go to Beijing and invite Wang Ping to go with him. On the way, ** talked a lot with Wang Ping and put forward hopes for Wang Ping to work at the Military Academy.
* Said earnestly:
"The Military Academy is the first institution of higher learning in our army to train high- and middle-level commanders, which was personally founded by Marshal *** at the end of 1950, and it is a great wealth, which must be managed well and not lost. If there is a loss, it is not only a mistake, but also a sin. ”Wang Ping solemnly said that I will definitely do a good job.
In February 1959, Wang Ping took office. At that time, the leadership team was Liao Hansheng as the president, and Zhang Zhen, Zhang Fan, and Chen Qingxian were the vice presidents. In this class, Wang Ping is recognized as the "squad leader".
When Wang Ping arrived at the college, there were 1,230 students.
The main tasks assigned to the Academy by the Military Commission are:Commanders from deputy battalions to deputy divisions, as well as staff officers of captains and majors, should be trained so that they can be raised to the level of competent commanders at the regimental and division levels, as well as staff officers of headquarters at and above the regimental level.
In addition to teaching, the college also has a rather heavy task of compiling teaching materials.
In January 1960, Liao Hansheng was transferred to the political commissar of the Beijing Military Region, and Liu Haotian took over as president. After Liao Hansheng left, Wang Ping served as the first secretary of the party committee, and Liu Haotian was the second secretary.
In the same year, the "Military Training and Military Academic Research Committee" was established throughout the army, with * as its director. Ye Shuai was very concerned about the work of the Military Academy and had visited the Military Academy many times to inspect its work.
During this period, Wang Ping asked Ye Shuai for advice on the compilation of textbooks. It turned out that not long ago, the headquarters sent an inspection team to the military academy, and they thought that it was completely sufficient to have *** writings and **military**, plus regulations, and there was no need to write separate teaching materials.
In this regard, Ye Shuai said solemnly:"Teaching materials still have to be compiled, which is like a doctor treating a patient, saying that there is all the medicine in the Chinese medicine shop, so you don't have to prescribe medicine, is this okay?”
After the establishment of the Military Academy, it also undertook the task of training foreign students. Thousands of foreigners have come to the military academy to learn Xi the experience of armed struggle in our country. Among them, the cadets of the Vietnamese People's Army account for the majority, ranging from the deputy minister of defense to the cadres of divisions and regiments.
In 1962, Liu Haotian was transferred away, and Zhang Zhen took over as president.
This year, he inspected Nanjing and met with cadres at and above the division level and local responsible cadres. **Holding Xu Shiyou's hand with one hand, and Wang Ping's hand with the other, he walked to the rostrum. followed by Jiang Weiqing, secretary of the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee, and Hui Yuyu, governor of Jiangsu Province.
** Spoke 4 sentences to everyone,"Unite, work hard, overcome difficulties and strive for victory. ”
After the meeting, Wang Ping, as the political commissar of the Military Academy, set an example and shared weal and woe with the cadets. Commuting to work by bike, eating without going to the "gas station". The "gas station" is a small stove run by the college alone, mainly because of the physical impact of the faculty, so they take turns to improve their lives.
To Wang Ping's relief, no one went there to eat. Wang Ping once sighed"At that time, the college was united, unanimous, and had a strong cohesion. ”
In April 1966, Wang Ping was recuperating at home due to illness. In April 1967, Wang Ping's condition worsened, and the doctor told him to have surgery**. Ye Shuai was very concerned about Wang Ping's physical condition, and issued telegrams many times, instructing the relevant departments to do a good job.
On May 21, the Military Commission issued a special emergency telegram:
"Comrade Wang Ping has just undergone surgery, and according to his condition, he still needs to recover for a period of time. I ask you to convey to all the combat organizations of the Military Academy that Comrade Wang Ping's condition will improve before listening to everyone's criticism and opinions on him. ”Fast forward to 1972. This year, Wang Ping's wife wrote a letter to ***. Soon, Wang Ping received a message saying that *** had instructions to let him go home. In this way, Wang Ping was idle at home for a year and had nothing to do.
In 1973, Wang Ping wrote a letter to Ye Shuai asking for a job. On August 8, Wang Ping received a notice from the General Political Department to go to Beijing. After arriving in Beijing, the General Political Cadres Department sent a section chief to take Wang Ping to the Xizhimen Guest House. The deputy director of the guest house used to be Gan Siqi's guard and knew Wang Ping, so he took good care of Wang Ping.
A few days later, Ye Shuai instructed Li Desheng, director of the General Political Department, to arrange for Wang Ping to work. At that time, Li Desheng had to attend an important meeting and couldn't get away. It was not until the end of August that he met with Wang Ping after he was elected vice chairman. Wang Ping is very familiar with Li Desheng, who once worked in the Nanjing Military Region and has a good relationship.
Li Desheng said to him:"First restore the life of your party organization. You're in good health, and you'll be able to work in the future!”However, Li Desheng did not specify when he would resume work, so Wang Ping had to live in a guest house and wait for work to be arranged.
In February 1974, Wang Ping left Beijing. He returned to Nanjing via Wuhan, where Yang Dezhi, commander of the Wuhan Military Region, warmly welcomed him.
A few days later, Wang Ping returned to Nanjing. During this period, Ding Sheng, commander of the Nanjing Military Region, visited Wang Ping at home, invited him to dinner, watched movies, and conveyed ** documents to let Wang Ping participate. Wang Ping and Ding Sheng are familiar and can be regarded as old friends.
In January 1975, the General Political Department notified Wang Ping to go to Beijing. After arriving at the locality, Wang Ping learned that he was attending the Fourth National People's Congress meeting. As a matter of fact, it was a temporary decision of the Central Military Commission to notify him to attend the meeting in Beijing. Several people, such as Liu Zhijian and Yu Lijin, were also elected by the General Political Department at an ad hoc meeting.
When the group meeting was held, it was arranged for Wang Ping to participate in the group of the General Logistics Department. This was also a foreshadowing for his later arrival at the General Queen. After the meeting, Wang Ping returned to Nanjing to continue the assigned work.
In April, Wang Ping received a telegram from the Central Military Commission in Nanjing, asking him to rush to Beijing. After Wang Ping arrived, he held a meeting at the three gates and asked him to be the political commissar of the artillery of the Military Commission.
In front of the artillery, Wang Ping went to see Ye Shuai and *** encouraged him:"You let go and work boldly, don't be afraid of this or that. Communist Party members must have the courage and courage to fight for the truth”
When Wang Ping took office, the organ held a welcoming meeting. Due to his physical discomfort and the fact that he had not spoken publicly for many years, when he was greeted by Commander Zhang Dazhi on the rostrum, he only said a few words of expression and stammered.
After the meeting, there was a discussion:"Oh, sending such an old man, who can't even speak, can still catch the artillery work?”
Wang Ping didn't care, he only had one thought in his heart, to snatch back the lost time in the past. Wang Ping dealt with the problem simply and resolutely. After a period of work, the comrades of the organ commented on him:"This old man is okay, he really has a bit of courage to work!”
Not long after Wang Ping worked in the artillery, he received an order to serve as political commissar in the Wuhan Military Region.
On September 15, 1975, Wang Ping took office in the Wuhan Military Region. On the second day of taking office, Commander Yang Dezhi suddenly fell ill and suffered unbearable pain, and was immediately taken to Beijing by special plane for hospitalization.
Yang Dezhi was gone for three months, and Wang Liusheng, the political commissar at that time, was transferred to the engineering corps as political commissar, and Deputy Commander Zhang Zhen was to be appointed deputy director of the General Logistics Department. In this way, only Wang Ping will be left in charge of the overall situation in the huge Wuhan Military Region.
At that time, the Wuhan Military Region had three corps, two independent divisions, and four special forces divisions, and the military region also had a relatively large air force. After Wang Ping went, while investigating and studying, he also vigorously grasped the rectification of the troops. Under Wang Ping's leadership, the troops were basically able to carry out orders as soon as they were ordered, and orders were carried out with prohibitions.
From October 1976, Wang Ping stepped up the reorganization of the troops. Wang Ping remembered that there was a young deputy political commissar who was a deputy squad leader and a combat hero in the 1959 Sino-Indian border self-defense counterattack, and later became the director of the regiment's political office.
However, from the 60s to 70s, his position rose like a rocket, and finally he was suddenly promoted to the leadership position of the large military region.
After Wang Ping arrived at the military region, he heard that the masses had many complaints about him, and Wang Ping also personally observed that this person's position was very incommensurate with his level, and that he was making comparisons in his living conditions. Therefore, he suggested that this comrade should be delegated to exercise and improve in an appropriate post.
After a meeting and study, he was finally made the political commissar of the ** division of the army. Before leaving, Wang Ping talked to him and made it clear:"Everything is treated the same as that of a division commander, and nothing from the military region can be taken away. ”
In September 1977, Wang Ping was appointed as the first political commissar of the Wuhan Military Region. Wang Ping knew that this was to make it clearer, because he was the only political commissar who was in charge of the work of the military region. The other two political commissars are concurrently served by the first secretaries of the Hubei and Henan provincial party committees respectively.
In October 1977, Ye Shuai went to Wuhan to inspect the work, and Wang Ping and Yang Dezhi reported to him together. During the period, Ye Shuai said:"Comrade Wang Ping, your position is going to be transferred, go to the General Logistics Department!”
Hearing the news, Wang Ping felt very sudden. He said:"Vice Chairman Ye, I think that the situation has been opened up in the Wuhan Military Region, and it is better to continue to stay and work, and I have not done logistics work, so I am afraid it will be difficult to shoulder the heavy responsibility. ”
Ye Shuai explained to Wang Ping:"The leadership group of the General Logistics Department needs to be adjusted, and the Central Military Commission has considered several candidates. ”
One month later, ** also came to Wuhan. He took the initiative to talk to Wang Ping and said that ** had decided to transfer him to work in the general post. ** I told Wang Ping about the general situation, so that after receiving the appointment, he quickly went to Beijing to take up his post.
Just before that, after Vice Minister Zhang Zhen presided over the work of the General Logistics Department, he wrote a letter to ***, saying that it was recommended to adjust the leadership team. A few days later, ** talked to Zhang Zhen and said that the Military Commission was considering the candidate for the political commissar of the General Logistics Department, and there were two targets. One of them has Wang Ping, ** asked Zhang Zhen what his opinion?
Zhang Zhen and Wang Ping have known each other for a long time and have worked together intermittently for many years. When the Long March arrived in northern Shaanxi, Wang Ping served as the political commissar of the 11th Regiment of the 4th Division, and Zhang Zhen served as the communications director of the 4th Division Headquarters.
In December 1935, the Cavalry Regiment of the 4th Division was ordered to Hancheng with the task of contacting the underground party Yan Kui to retrieve the radio station.
After the troops arrived in Hancheng, they were suddenly blocked by the Kuomintang 17th Route Army and could not be contacted, so they had to retreat while fighting. On the return, the 11 regiment served as a rearguard.
On this day, Zhang Zhen went to the 11th regiment to inspect the work, and acted with the regiment headquarters. At that time, Zhang Zhen felt that he could talk to Wang Ping very well.
After Zhang Zhen returned to the division headquarters, he received a report from the 11th Regiment the next day, saying that the regiment commander had escaped. Zhang Zhen ordered to find out the situation, but it turned out that he could not withstand the test of hard life, and then defected to the enemy. Due to Wang Ping's effective work, the troops were not greatly affected.
After that, Wang Ping was transferred to the deputy director of the division's political department, so that he and Zhang Zhen worked in the division's headquarters organs. There are more opportunities to meet and get in touch.
In 1936, the two separated and went to the battlefield separately. It wasn't until 17 years later that we met again.
After that, Wang Ping's transfer overlapped too much with Zhang Zhen, the Korean battlefield, the Nanjing Military Academy, and the Wuhan Military Region. In short, the two not only have a good relationship, but they have also formed a tacit understanding after many years of partnering.
When *** mentioned Wang Ping, Zhang Zhen immediately said:"If you ask for my opinion, Wang Pinglai is better. ”Zhang Zhen also explained, because they have worked together for many years and can cooperate well. In the end, ** agreed with Zhang Zhen's opinion.
Soon, the order of the Central Military Commission arrived, and Wang Ping was appointed political commissar of the General Logistics Department and secretary of the Party Committee of the General Logistics Department.
In January 1978, Wang Ping went to Beijing. Before taking office, he first went to Ye Shuai, ** and *** and asked them to give specific instructions on the work of the general logistics department. The opinions of the three leaders are roughly the sameLet Wang Ping let go and do it, and he must rectify it well.
In February, Wang Ping officially went to work in the General Logistics Department.
Wang Ping found that the notice of the General Political Department on 4 February only stated that the chief of staff and the director of the Political Department should generally participate in the Standing Committee of the Party Committee, and did not mention that the principal leaders of logistics should participate. After discussing with other leaders, Wang Ping reported the situation to ***.
**Instructions will be given soon:
"You have told the General Political Department to issue a supplementary notice, and logistics, like the department and government, should have a principal leader notify the party committee to participate. Like the office meeting of the Central Military Commission, two comrades from each of the three general departments participated. The main leaders of logistics should participate in the standing committee of the party committee at the same level. As for whether it is a minister or a political commissar, and who is suitable to participate, it is up to them to decide. ”On 22 June, the General Political Department issued a circular resolving the issue.
Since 1983, Wang Ping has gradually felt that he is unable to work. At this time, he proposed to Yang Shangkun and asked to withdraw from the leadership group of the General Logistics Department. Yang Shangkun told him not to worry.
Later, Wang Ping separately found *** Zhu Yunqian to talk about the problem of retreating. Say to him:"Take care of the big things, and you can take care of the small problems less or nothing. ”
Two years later, Wang Ping once again proposed the idea of retiring. This time, the Military Commissar agreed to his request.
After taking a back seat, Wang Ping had more time to reminisce about the past in addition to some investigation and research. Since then, he has also written many memoirs.
On February 8, 1998, Wang Ping died of illness at the age of 91.
