Ukraine's recent remarks by Zelensky seem to have announced the end of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.
According to the Washington Post, Zelensky has publicly stated that without US assistance, the Ukrainian army will have to give up territory.
This sentence conveys at least three important messages.
First of all, Zelensky has issued a threat to the United States, which shows that Ukraine is desperate and relations with the United States have broken down.
Although there have been contradictions between Zelensky and the United States, the results of this visit to the United States disappointed him, and he had hoped for a lot of financial aid, but in the end he only received $200 million and verbal support.
This shows that the United States no longer supports Ukraine, which makes it impossible for Zelensky and others to profit from Western military aid.
Secondly, this remark admits that the current situation of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict is extremely unfavorable to the Ukrainian army.
Finally, the rhetoric also shows that Ukraine's political leaders have run out of hope and that they have to rely on U.S. assistance to protect their territory.
Since the outbreak of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, Ukraine has been promoting various victories and has never admitted the significant losses it has suffered.
This attitude gives people the false impression that the Ukrainian army is invincible and may even launch a direct attack on Moscow.
However, even an arrogant person like Zelensky in Ukraine has to admit that without the significant assistance of the United States and other Western countries, the Ukrainian army will be forced to hand over more territory to Russia.
This is further proof that the Ukrainian army is now in a very dangerous situation, even on the verge of collapse.
The United States has even openly admitted that the strategic task they give Ukraine next year has become "comprehensive strategic defense", and as long as it can keep as much territory as possible, it will be able to gain more bargaining chips in future negotiations.
This shows that even Western countries have despaired of Ukraine's military capabilities.
Zelensky's coercion this time - "surrendering territory to Russia" is likely not only to get more assistance from Western countries, but also to force the United States and other Western countries to directly help Ukraine resist Russia.
The conflict could be in danger of escalating and spiraling out of control.
It is worth noting that Zelensky's public threat to the United States this time may not only be for the sake of obtaining tens of billions of dollars in military aid, because what Ukraine lacks most now is not money and equipment, but a source of soldiers.
Nearly two years of fierce fighting have almost exhausted Ukraine's combat-ready soldiers.
Even if the United States and other Western countries provide large amounts of military aid, it will not be able to reverse the fate of the defeat of the Ukrainian army.
The "help from the United States" mentioned by Zelensky is likely to include a request for the United States to directly send troops to Ukraine in addition to large-scale military aid.
The United States has recently sent out a clear signal on this point.
Congressman Green has publicly stated that the United States intends to continue the confrontation with Russia and may send troops to Ukraine.
This shows that the United States absolutely cannot accept the complete defeat of Ukraine in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.
Once Ukraine is in danger of defeat, the United States may send troops to Ukraine, causing the situation to escalate again or even get out of control.
There is no doubt that Zelensky exerted some influence on the threats and warnings of the United States.
He has been very confident in his dealings with Biden and clearly has some leverage at the negotiating table.
While the United States is now trying to avoid getting involved in the quagmire of the Russia-Ukraine war, Zelensky's attitude seems to have complicated the situation and possibly brought greater crises and risks.
