Liverpool comfortably beat Benley 2-0 on Boxing Day to move to the top of the Premier League table, overtaking Arsenal. The Reds are determined to make up for the points they have dropped in their previous games against Arsenal and Manchester United. Their 1-1 draw with Arsenal prevented them from claiming first place. However, Jurgen Klopp's side were excellent in Delph Moore's match against Benley.
Goals from Darwin Nunez and Diego Chota sealed the win for Liverpool. Nunez scored the first goal in the sixth minute with an assist from Cody Gakpo. He kicked the ball sideways into the bottom corner from outside the box. Liverpool dominated the first half but failed to extend their lead and Mohamed Salah hit the crossbar.
Benley improved after half-time, but Liverpool almost extended the score to 2-0 when Harvey Elliott scored. Jota ended up winning the game for Liverpool in the final minutes of the game. As a result, Liverpool temporarily occupied the top spot in the league. Arsenal will now face West Ham United, who must emerge victorious to regain top spot.
