Professor Deng Cong s team has achieved new results in the research of Liangzhu Yucong

Recently, the team of Professor Deng Cong of the Department of Archaeology of Shandong University has made important progress in the research of Liangzhu Yucong. ⅱ.Research on the Craft of Jade Cong" was published by Sichuan People's Publishing House in October 2023. Professor Deng Cong's team has been concentrating on jade research in China, Russia, Japan and Southeast Asia for many years, through a large number of high-precision micro-trace analysis, simulated experimental archaeology and other methods, the jade production process, and on this basis, in-depth cultural and social related issues, the achievement is another Chinese jade research masterpiece after "Macao Black Sand Jade Workshop", "Liangzhu Jade Craft", "Jinsha Jade Crafts" and so on.

The work is based on a Liangzhu jade cong unearthed from the Jinsha site as the core, and meets at the point, crisscrossing time and space, and concludes it into a monograph, which is an unprecedented attempt in the academic circles in the past. The study is divided into nine parts, including the new exploration of Yucong, the production of Liangzhu Gaocong, the Fangyuan technology of Yucong, the experiment of Yucong pipe drilling, the carving symbols of Yucong, the traces of the use of Yucong, the social value of Yucong, and the origin of Jinsha Yucong. The Liangzhu culture is the most powerful body of knowledge in the Yangtze River basin around 5,000 years ago, and the connotation of jade cong involves astronomy, mathematics, engineering, religion, philosophy, art and jade technology, reaching an incredible level.

In the preface to the book, Wang Yi, deputy director of the Sichuan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism and director of the Sichuan Provincial Bureau of Cultural Heritage, points out that "this project also provides a comparative study of the unearthed or handed down Liangzhu cultural jade cong, so as to gain a broader perspective on the evolution and transmission characteristics of the jade cong, so as to reveal the hidden cultural ,...... behind it."It can be described as well-intentioned and hard-won." Fang Hui, dean of the School of History and Culture of Shandong University, said in the preface, "This time, "Jinsha Yugong. It provides a detailed analysis of the production of Liangzhu and Shang and Zhou Yucong, and more importantly, the social behavior and structure behind the artifacts are studied through these evidences. This publication is another masterpiece of the 'Jinsha Jade Crafts' series jointly launched by the team of Shandong University and the Jinsha Site Museum."
