Apple has announced the discontinuation of the iMac Pro, and those who expect the update will have t

Since 2021, the iMac Pro has been shrouded in mystery. It has once again been in the news over the past year with multiple leakers and analysts claiming that ** is coming. But the exact timing of the release is far from certain. Now, while we may be one step closer to knowing, this is not good news for those who are still waiting for an update. Because Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman's latest Power On newsletter shows that Apple has detailed its plans for 2024, but the iMac Pro is nowhere to be seen. In the report, Gurman laid out his expectations for Apple products in the coming year. We can expect big changes to the AirPods and Apple Watch lineups, as well as the Vision Pro coming to retail stores. Of course, there will also be the iPhone 16, and on the Mac side, we can expect a "massive upgrade" of the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro. Only the iMac 24-inch, Mac Studio, and Mac Pro were unaffected, but curiously, Gurman didn't say anything about the iMac Pro. That doesn't mean Gurman has given up on the idea of the imac Pro's upcoming release, but it at least suggests that at least it won't be coming soon. It may even hint that this device will not be released next year.

Gurman had said in October that Apple was still working on the iMac Pro and could release it sometime in 2024. This is in line with the information released by Ming-Chi Kuo earlier. Regarding the discontinuation of the iMac Pro, Gurman believes that Apple has shelved the plan because of cost issues. Still, the plan hasn't been completely canceled, and Gurman believes Apple is continuing to develop it. This means that if you're expecting a bigger iMac, it doesn't mean it won't come, we just have to be patient.

While we don't know exactly how the iMac Pro is progressing, we can speculate on its capabilities based on Gurman's recent statements in the Power On newsletter, as well as past leaks. Given that it will be a professional-grade device, at least with an M3 Pro chip, we might also be able to expect an M3 Max option. Unlike the professional devices in the M2 series, the M3 Pro and M3 Max were released at the same time as the entry-level M3, which gave hope that the IMAC Pro's chips would soon be ready.

There are other issues to consider, though. The iMac Pro will feature a 32-inch screen with Mini-LED technology, which will be the largest iMac to date. Considering that the Pro Display XDR is also 32-inch and features Mini-LED technology, this could make its** soar to unbearable levels. This will also go hand in hand with the powerful chips of the iMac Pro.

All of these factors indicate that the iMac Pro still has a lot of hurdles to overcome. Although it seems to be coming, and although Gurman does not mention it in the report, its ** is still an unknown. The only thing that is certain is that its arrival may surprise some users. After all, it can be jaw-droppingly high.
