"The welding torch should have a sense of frustration on both sides, a sense of force in the horizontal swing, a combination of rigidity and softness, and you can experience it again...Recently, in the welding training classroom of Jiuye Construction, a subsidiary of Chinalco, Wei Chuangke is teaching welders his self-created electrode arc welding "fencing" welding method.
Although the welder Wei Chuangke is born in the 90s, he is already a "master" in the enterprise.
For more than 10 years, he has won many good results in skill competitions with his excellent welding technology, and won honors such as "National Nonferrous Metal Industry Technical Expert" and "Sanqin Craftsman". Under his careful guidance, nearly 100 young welders have grown into welding experts.
This welding torch almost 'welds' his heart to the work. In the hearts of his family, the welding torch has long become Wei Chuangke's inseparable "partner".
Welding has high requirements for the physical fitness of workers. When he first entered the industry, in order to exercise his physical fitness, Wei Chuangke had to run 5 kilometers in the morning every day and then go to work in the unit; In order to practice Xi wrist strength, he tied bricks to his wrists, used a brush as a welding rod, and practiced Xi luck bars in newspapers; He also took the initiative to increase the intensity of his work, and used several tons more electrodes than his workers in a year...In this way, Wei Chuangke quickly mastered more than 10 welding technologies such as manual arc welding, argon arc welding, and carbon dioxide gas shielded welding.
For Wei Chuangke, the welding torch is not only a production tool, but also a tool to overcome obstacles on the road of innovation. Even with heavy production tasks, he has never stopped technological innovation.
Flux-cored wire carbon dioxide gas shielded welding has been applied in several major projects undertaken by the enterprise, but because some workpieces have an angle of 45 degrees, there are difficulties in operation, and the initial welding pass rate is only about 30%.
In order to overcome this difficulty, for a while, Wei Chuangke was like a demon, "soaking" on the construction site every day. After continuous attempts, he found that as long as he adjusted the posture and angle of the welding torch, and adopted the "vertical weld axis" operation method when welding the cap surface, he could ensure that the surface of the weld was formed evenly and smoothly.
After using his welding method, the welding quality pass rate quickly increased to 97%. He participated in the compilation of "Improving the Qualification Rate of Pipe Butt 45 Degree Flux Cored Wire Carbon Dioxide Gas Shielded Welding" and won the "First Prize of QC Achievements in the National Metallurgical Construction Industry in 2015".
The spirit of craftsmanship relies on the inheritance between master and apprentice from generation to generation. In recent years, Wei Chuangke has been innovating and tackling key problems, while teaching the skills he has been studying for many years to his apprentices, leading more front-line welders to embark on the road of skill development.
He also stepped onto the podium of vocational schools from the production line, and was specially hired as a welding expert by a number of higher vocational and technical schools in Shaanxi Province, teaching teachers and students skills, answering questions, and planting a seed of craftsman spirit into the hearts of students.
Make every electrode, weld every weld, and do every project. This has always been Wei Chuangke's motto. In his class, he also said this sentence to his students over and over again.
