On December 9, under the guidance of the State Administration of Cultural Heritage and the Propaganda Department of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee, the opening ceremony of the large-scale documentary "Why China" produced by Shanghai Radio and Television Station was held in Beijing.

Li Qun, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Director of the State Administration of Cultural Heritage, pointed out that the large-scale documentary "Why China" is based on the major research results of the "Chinese Civilization Exploration Project" and "Archaeological China", systematically traces the foundation, origin, formation and early development of Chinese civilization, comprehensively decodes China's million-year human history, 10,000-year cultural history, and more than 5,000-year civilization history, and enhances the specific measures of Chinese civilization communication and influence. The State Administration of Cultural Heritage will guide local cultural relics departments and cultural and museum units to continue to increase cooperation with first-class institutions, launch more masterpieces and rich activities, show the responsibility and innovation consciousness of cultural and museum people, and promote the cultural relics and archaeological achievements in the new era to the public, so that Chinese civilization will last forever and grow in the dual context of modernization process and globalization.

Zhao Jiaming, member of the Standing Committee of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee and Minister of the Propaganda Department, pointed out that in the process of promoting the creative transformation and innovative development of China's excellent traditional culture, new paths and new achievements should be explored. The successful production of "Why China" is a "new era restart" for documentaries produced in Shanghai, creating more cultural boutiques with global influence, and making Shanghai a better place for cultural construction and an important window for displaying Chinese culture.

Why China" is divided into 8 episodes of "Qin and Han", "Cradle", "Star Dou", "Ancient Country", "Choosing China", "Yin Shang", "Home Country" and "Tianxia", which will premiere on Dragon TV and Blockbuster TV at 19:30 tonight, and will be broadcast every Friday at 20:30 from December 15th. At the ceremony, the copyright of the documentary "Why China" was authorized to 18 relevant museums.

The opening ceremony was hosted by Shanghai Radio and Television Station and the News Center of the State Administration of Cultural Heritage.
