On the evening of December 28, NVIDIA's official website released an RTX 4090D graphics card customized for the Chinese market - D is the legendary Dragon, corresponding to the upcoming Chinese Year of the Dragon. This graphics card meets US export control standards in design, specifications and performance, and can be produced and sold in Chinese mainland, Hong Kong and Macau markets.
The RTX 4090D comes with some sacrifice in specs, but not much. The core chip is still AD102, but the number has been changed to AD102-250. The number of CUDA cores has been reduced from 16,384 to 14,592, the base core clock has been slightly increased from 2235MHz to 2280MHz, and the boost frequency has remained at 2520MHz. In addition, it has been said that some of its tensor tensor cores have been streamlined, but the details are unclear for the time being.
The RTX 4090D's memory configuration remains unchanged at 384-bit 24GB GDDR6X at 21GHz equivalent. The total power consumption setting of the graphics card is reduced from 450W to 425W, with 302W for regular gaming, 26W for ** and 19W for idle.
In terms of gaming performance, according to the chart on NVIDIA's official website, the RTX 4090D only loses about 5 compared to the RTX 4090, which has little impact on the actual gaming experience.
This Year of the Dragon China compliant version of the RTX 4090D will be available from January 2024, with an official suggested retail price of 12,999 yuan. It should be noted that the RTX 4090D does not have a public version card, and the major AIC brand manufacturers will launch their own non-public version products.
In addition, NVIDIA also plans to launch the RTX 40 Super series in January, including the RTX 4070 Super, RTX 4070 Ti Super, and RTX 4080 Super, to form a new generation of complete RTX 40 family layout for the Year of the Dragon. These new graphics cards will provide Chinese users with more choice and a higher-performance gaming experience.
