Since the release of the 2024 (Jiachen) Year of the Dragon*** commemorative coin, its design has been widely acclaimed. Therefore, we interviewed Ms. Huang Qin, the designer of the back artwork of the 150-gram round gold coin, and led everyone to experience the design journey of the 150-gram round gold coin. See how the designer conceived and cut in.
Since the People's Bank of China issued the first set of zodiac gold and silver coins in 1981, the zodiac series *** commemorative coins have been issued continuously for more than 40 years so far, and are the earliest, longest lasting and most diverse series in China, with high social recognition and a wide public base.
In addition to the theme advantages of the zodiac series itself, the dragon, as a mythical animal in Chinese myths and legends, symbolizes auspiciousness, and is also a cultural carrier of the national spirit.
The reverse of the 150-gram round gold coin features a decorative dragon with a combination of water patterns and the inscription "Jiachen" and a denomination. The main pattern is composed of decorative style faucet shapes, which has a great sense of design and visual impact.
The dragon, as the only fictional supernatural animal in the zodiac, gathers the wildness of the beast, the understanding of man and the spirituality of the god, and is a symbol of strength, wisdom and dignity, and also means progress and success. Dragon culture is a unique culture in the Chinese nation, and the descendants of China regard themselves as "descendants of the dragon". Over the past thousand years, dragon culture has also kept pace with the times in the course of history, creating many artistic images with the characteristics of the times.
In the reverse design of the 150-gram gold coin, a large dragon head is used as the main motif, and the image of the dragon head is vivid and handsome, and the eyes are clear and determined. The whole slender and handsome image is a little less solemn, adding a bit of toughness and sharpness. The horns and whiskers extend beyond the surface of the coin, and the outward tension is full of a sense of powerThe dark and light blue dragon eyes are bright. The overall shape shows the outstanding young talents, the courage to be the first and the spirit of hard work and enterprising.
In addition, in the design of the coin, the auspicious cloud pattern and the dragon whiskers are combined, which is a bold innovation of the traditional dragon shape, and the colorful auspicious clouds rising upwards hold up the layers of churning waves, symbolizing the peace and security of the country, thriving and forging ahead.
