Until a year ago, Tesla's charging standard (NACS) was only used by itself, but now 28 companies, including charging network companies, have announced their adoption, and recently, the Volkswagen Group also announced that it will adopt Tesla's charging standard. Tesla has almost monopolized the charging network in North America, and almost all car brands will now be compatible with Tesla's NACS, except for brands such as Peugeot, Citroen, Maserati, Alfa Romeo, Fiat, etc.
Now, the Volkswagen Group has officially stated that it will adopt Tesla's North American Charging Standard (NACS) from 2025, which means that Audi, Porsche, Scout, and Volkswagen shipped to North America will have Tesla-designed charging ports. In addition, as with other car brands, NACS chargers will be available for vehicles of the Volkswagen Group with Combined Charging System (CCS) to benefit existing owners and owners whose vehicles will be delivered in 2025.
Responding to the news, Tesla's senior director, Rebecca Tinucci, said: "The Volkswagen Group's commitment has nearly all major automakers join our NACS to provide a charging experience for all EV drivers. At the beginning of this year, Tesla was the only company to adopt NACS, and it was only a dream for global car brands to adopt it. "However, Volkswagen's announcement marks a fundamental change in the industry in just one year. ”
