Ford trademark Lightstream for all potential applications

Mondo Technology Updated on 2024-01-28

Ford has filed a trademark for the Lightstream name, which indicates that Blue Oval is preparing to launch a new electric car.

As one user on the 4th generation Tacoma forum discovered, the file is rather vague. It shows that Lightstream can be used in a variety of applications, from passenger cars and SUVs to off-road vehicles and electric vehicles. Lightstream sounds rather adventurous, so we're guessing that this new name could be used for a variety of all-electric dirt bikes.

It remains to be seen whether it will remain for new decorations or models, but there are several possibilities. Perhaps Ford's next-generation electric truck, Project T3, will be called Lightstream. Production of the model is expected to begin in 2025, and the pickup will reportedly be based on a dedicated EV platform. According to reports, this will not serve as a replacement for the F-150 Lightning.

There are no hybrid or PHEV versions of this incredible dirt bike, although its main competitor, the Wrangler, is available in a 4xe form. Lightstream may also be reserved for the all-electric Bronco, which is said to be available in 2029 alongside the ** Bronco.

Lightstream also has the potential to be used in plug-in hybrid M**Ericks. We already know that Ford plans to launch new versions of the M**Erick and Bronco. Will Lightstream be one of these new decorations?

We also can't forget about the Mustang Mach-E. The electric crossover has been a huge success for the automaker, with Ford recently strengthening the lineup with a rally version that leans towards off-road. Perhaps the Lightstream could be a performance-oriented model with a sporty suspension and styling add-ons.

Edit Search Edit It is even more difficult to guess the fate of the name is that, as we understand it, "lightstream" (or even "stream") has never been used on Ford vehicles in the past – except once. In 2007, Blue Oval introduced the Airstream Concept.

The van is powered by an electric motor that harvests energy from a battery source. The vehicle can be plugged into a charger, but the hydrogen fuel cell system recharges the battery pack if necessary. This gives Airstream a claimed range of 305 miles. The interior boasts a lounge-like interior with a swivel captain's chair at the front and several other neat details.

Ford is likely to unveil an electric bus called the Lightstream as a tribute to the Airstream concept. Perhaps it will arrive as a US-spec version of the all-electric Tourneo Custom.
