Suzuki unveiled its popular ***Swift, a powerful compact hatchback that was not sold in the United States. The latest model has a more upscale interior, improved styling, and a new mild hybrid engine that prioritizes efficiency.
1.The 2-liter three-cylinder engine features a 12-volt mild hybrid power plant that improves fuel economy and minimizes tailpipe emissions. Suzuki claims that the new motor has extra low-end torque, enhanced performance and low-speed response.
No power and performance figures are provided, but we expect it to produce more power than the current Suzuki Swift's engine, which produces 82 horsepower and 79 pound-feet of torque. Before you laugh at the numbers, keep in mind that the little Suzuki is a lightweight and feels active on the move. The upcoming Suzuki Swift Sport should satisfy those who need a little more energy.
Automatic all-wheel drive can also be used to provide maximum safety. When the vehicle detects a lack of grip on the front wheels, torque is transferred to the rear wheels.
* The styling of the 2024 Suzuki Swift is more evolved than revolutionary, maintaining the same threads that have made the current model a hit in many markets. While the styling is subjective, the front end of the latest model is somewhat awkward, resembling a parrot or a knock-off mini – we even see traces of the first-generation Daihatsu Sirion on the front panel. It's certainly not as personal or cheeky as its predecessors, although it's faithful to the concept revealed earlier this year.
The piano black grille, L-shaped illuminated signs, and floating roof design add a bit of flair to Swift's flair. There are eight monotone and four two-tone color finishes. New shades include Frontier Blue Pearl Metallic and Cool Yellow Metallic.
The cabin has been significantly modified with a more upscale dashboard design. The dashboard is tilted towards the driver, and the 9-inch touchscreen takes center stage. Features include Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, and voice recognition.
Another nifty technical feature is Suzuki Connect, which uses the vehicle's data communication module to connect the driver's smartphone to the car in real time. As a result, car owners can take advantage of geofencing and curfew alert features, recall notifications, and convenient features such as parked car locators and driving history.
The two-tone black and gray trim on the dashboard extends to the front door card, adding vibrancy to the interior. Compared to other budget purchases such as the Mitsubishi Phantom, Kia Rio, and Nissan Versa, the cabin of the Swift is more attractive and looks like a delightful place to be. An elegant satin finish adds a touch of upscale.
Safety features include lane-keeping assist, driver monitoring system, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, and several other driver assistances.
U.S. consumers don't like small cars, so we don't expect the Suzuki Swift to come to the U.S. Sadly, we didn't get the delightful Jimny either. UK pricing will be released ahead of the spring 2024 release.
