In the design and construction of the library, it has made many contributions to enriching the collection of artworks, creating a cultural and academic atmosphere, and building a scholarly campus. At the beginning of the construction of the gymnasium, Bao Lu accidentally found a flat stone at the construction site, and after careful exploration, it was the monument of the Qing Dynasty to rebuild the Bixia Yuanjun Palace. Bao Lu was overjoyed, pondered it, studied it, looked at it, and found colleagues to apply it to propaganda and ink, and the life experience of the inscription suddenly became clear. The only surviving inscription tells the good deeds of rebuilding the palace of Bixia Yuanjun. This monument has resurfaced, which is of great significance for enriching the history and culture of the University of Tokyo, enriching the story of the University, and increasing the thickness of the humanities

"Rebuilding the Bixia Yuanjun Palace Inscription" remnant monument found research records
In the early spring of 2023, the gymnasium of the Oriental College of Shandong University of Finance and Economics has been nearly completed. On the weekend, I inspected the construction site alone, and walked to the northwest corner of the gymnasium, and saw a stone in the stone pile in the twilight, which was hand-chiseled, smooth and flat. There are vague inscriptions up close, wipe off the soil, and identify the ten big characters of "Rebuilding the Bixia Yuanjun Palace Inscription". I couldn't help but feel overjoyed, so I told the site guard to take care of it carefully and not to damage it. On Monday, everyone was gathered to transport the stele to the library, and after cleaning and rubbing, the stele could be seen in its entirety.
Overview of the ancient monument. The stele has a sidebar, and only the upper and right parts remain. The left and bottom sides of the stele are missing. On the right side of the stele, the word "Wangu" is engraved in the body of Lishu, the font is neat and beautiful, and the words are also engraved with flower and grass patterns. The left side of the stele is missing, and it is estimated that there should be the word "Liufang" on the left side of the stele. The end of the stele should also be engraved with the date. Fortunately, most of the text on the stele body is preserved, and more than 200 characters remain, and the regular script is neat and beautiful, and the calligraphy characteristics of European style and pavilion style are also preserved. The inscription is presumed to be missing two to four characters at the bottom of each vertical line, but the gist of it can still be understood.

The approximate meaning of the inscription is: "Tai'an Mansion Chronicles" (written in 1760) records, 16 miles away from Tai'an City, there is a kind ridge. The four sides of the mountain range are flat, one (water phase cause). In the third year of Ming Longqing (1569), the temple of Bixia Yuanjun of Mount Tai was built. There are three main halls of this temple, and there is a statue of Mount Tai (Yuan Jun statue). For a long time, the main hall was damaged, the west house collapsed, and the courtyard wall was broken. There are local gentlemen and princesses (dukes), and the Quartet raises funds for the repair of temples. Worried about the lack of funds, he also asked the villages (to work or to send materials). The bronze statue depicted by the sculpture in the hall strives to be solemn and immortal for a long time. (Yunyun) all living beings in the township, how carefully do you need to supervise the construction, only use ordinary materials, can make the temple look new, and then open the mercy (Xiangling new look).
In the middle and upper part of the stele, the four "leaders", You Chunqu, Zhang Maoxuan, Guo Ben, and Li Cunyi, should be the "Yi Gentry Taigong (.)
The "You Family Tree" published in the 26th year of Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty (1901 AD) has been recorded in the local "Phoenix Village". The main talents in the village are You and Zhang. You "Taihong" Gong, after moving into the village during the Yongzheng period, the second son You Jinyuan, the word, Zhongchen, Zhongjiaqing Jiazi (1804) raised people, and was later elected as Puzhou Xuezheng. It is the eighth product**. Subsequently, the Youjia successively produced 3 talents, a total of 7 famous township drinkers and Jiebin, and 2 "gift" officialsThe Zhang family moved to Fenghuangzhuang more than ten years later than the You family, and there were also 4 talents and 3 "gift" officials.

According to the "You Family Tree", You Chunqu (Xiangyin Jiebin) was born in the 11th year of Jiaqing (1806) and died in the 11th year of Tongzhi (1872). It is estimated that the remnants of the monument should be engraved in the middle and late Qing Daoguang period to the 11th year of Tongzhi, within the range of about 40 years.
In the lower part of the inscription, "Linji faction" may be "Linji faction". Rinzai (sect) is one of the main schools of Zen Buddhism. In the early years of the Northern Song Dynasty, it became popular in the north, and later became the main school of Zen Buddhism in the south. The left side of the "Linji faction" is engraved with the words "Ancestral Daoming Sect is precepting Fu Huiyuan." and other words, which are the genealogy of the Buddhist Rinzai school (character generation).
It is not difficult to see through the description of the remnant stele: in the middle of the Qing Dynasty, the Confucian gentry near Cixiangling led the villagers to contribute funds and efforts to repair the ancient temple. At that time, there were Buddhist monks living in the temple, and the temple also enshrined the goddess of Taoism - Bixia Yuanjun (commonly known as Taishan Grandma). In this way, the three cultures of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism gathered in one temple, and the scene was just like the Ming Dynasty emperor Zhu Jianshen's "a group of harmonious gas maps". Although this temple is small, it can demonstrate the inclusiveness of Chinese culture, which can not help but make people sigh.
Cixiangling, now Tai'an has no such place name. Inquire about the staff of the surrounding school to Usucun and Fenghuangzhuang, and know that Cixiang Ridge is close at hand, and the top of the ridge is located in the northwest corner of the adjacent school, the former Taishan Medical College. Although there are roads in the surrounding area, there are still remnants of the mountains. The Phoenix River, which now flows through the Oriental College, was originally a natural river in front of the southern slope of the Cixiang Mountains. The villagers near the school still have the old custom of burning incense and offering to Taishan's grandmother in Cixiangling. About this Mount Tai Bixia Yuanjun Palace, there is a proverb among the people: "Nine Lotus Mountains, Eight Treasure Glazed Wells, Seventy-two Jujube Trees, and the Copper Gang Iron Bottom Grain River." Its meaning is roughly to say: there are nine peaks around Cixiangling, which resemble lotus petals;There is a well in front of the temple, and there is a glazed well fence decorated with Taoist (or Buddhism) "eight treasures" pattern at the mouth of the well;The jujube forest on the ridge is shady;There is a grain river in front of the ridge, because the bank of the grain river is copper-brown rock, and the sand and gravel at the bottom of the river are iron-black, so it is called "copper gang iron bottom".

He also inquired about Professor Zhou Ying's record of Cixiangling of Taishan College, and he provided the following historical data: "The north ditch of Cixiangling is fourteen miles long and enters the Pan River. The Lingnan ditch is twenty miles long and enters the Pan River. Zhengjiagang Xigou starts from Phoenix Mountain, is 20 miles long, and joins the river. Dongniugou starts from Cixiang Ridge, is forty miles long, and joins the river. It has been on the ninth ditch, and Feng Guangsu of Qianlong in the seventeenth year of Qianlong has picked up the dredging.
Taishan Palace: that is, Yuanjun Temple, there are many places, such as Zhanghou Hulu Mountain, Xia Zhang Taiping Mountain, Yuanyang Yuanwaizhuang, Loude Town Erliuquan, Southwest Township Lijiadian, Fangcheng Northeast Wulong Mountain, Baiyu Local Cixiangling, Tianping Store are also. ”

Taishan Maifan Stone Habitat Cixiangling is 10 kilometers away from Tai'an City, and its north is a vast ocean of water. The pilgrims from the south are blocked by the big water and can not pass, so they burn incense on the ridge and worship Mount Tai and return, and Cixiangling is named after this. There is a Buddhist temple on the ridge originally, there is a glazed well of eight treasures in front of the temple, it is digging on the middle road rock where the Maifan stone is concentrated, the monks drink this well water, all of them are healthy and long-lived. So far, the eight treasure glazed wells in front of the temple are still there. The local people have a proverb that "seventy-two jujube trees, thirty-six hundred-year-old Buddhas". The mystery of Cixiangling Shufeng Life Insurance lies in Maifan Stone.
The village on the southern slope of Cixiang is a longevity village. There are 7 people over 90 years old, more than 50 people over 80 years old, and the longest-lived Zhang Guilan lived to be 104 years old. According to laboratory tests, the well water in the village has reached the standard of mineral water.

More than 100 years later, according to the description of the locals, the grandmother temple on Cixiangling was damaged again around 1949, and then completely destroyed during the "Cultural Revolution". Later, the stone was mostly transported to the surrounding area to build water conservancy facilities. It is estimated that the remnants of the monument were dug and transported to the Oriental College at that time for the repair of water wells.
At the beginning of the planning and construction of the gymnasium of Oriental College, it was known that there was a water storage well built by the locals in the northwest corner of the site before the establishment of the school, but it was not known that there were this stele cultural relics in the well. During the construction, the well was within the scope of the foundation, so it was forced to dig and dismantle. The remnants of the stele have a spirit, fortunately placed on the ground by the excavator, but unfortunately the other half of the stele stone does not know what to do.
Nowadays, the Phoenix River in the school is still rippling, the ancient river, it must have seen the sail shadow of the grain ship, and must remember the "You, Zhang, Guo, Li" four surnamed Yi gentry Taigong, led everyone to repair the ancient temple of the good deeds. However, the vicissitudes of the world are not there. Due to the temporary loss of education, people used brute force, ignorance, short-sightedness, and prejudice, demolished temples, destroyed forests, and turned monuments into stones, making it difficult to sustain the local culture that existed.
At the time when the library of the Oriental Institute held an exhibition of its collection, the "rubbing" was exhibited, but there was no way to describe and explain it, so I wrote this article to record the discovery of the stele and the results of the inscription investigation.
