The formulation of the Expert Consensus on Laryngeal Endoscopy (2021) (hereinafter referred to as the "Consensus") aims to standardize the technology of laryngeal endoscopy in China, grasp the key points of examination and disease characteristics of key parts, avoid missed diagnosis and misdiagnosis, and provide help for the diagnosis and development of throat diseases.
Professor Xu Wen of Beijing Tongren Hospital affiliated to Capital Medical University interpreted the "Consensus" at this meeting. Professor Xu Wen focused on the preoperative preparation, techniques and observation points, special site examination and ** collection of laryngeal endoscopy, and made a detailed analysis of the important matters and operation specifications. Among the key points of laryngeal endoscopy observation and common disease characteristics, the "Consensus" mentions the NBI technology (narrow-band imaging technology) applied to the diagnosis of early cancer, which can enhance the contrast and clarity of imaging by strengthening the superficial microvascular and microsurface structure of the mucosa in endoscopy, thereby helping medical personnel improve the ability to detect small and superficial early cancers and precancerous lesions and judge the extent of lesions. In addition, with the development of endoscopic systems such as 3D and 4K, the visibility of laryngeal endoscopy is constantly improving, which helps medical personnel to detect precancerous lesions and improve the detection rate of early cancer.
