Li Chuying (1906-1950), formerly known as Chengcheng and aliases, was a native of Lianxian County, Guangdong. Graduated from Guangdong Provincial No. 1 Middle School. In May 1924, he was admitted to the third team of the first phase with the name of Li Zhuo.
After graduation, he successively served as a midshipman and platoon commander of the Second Regiment of the Military Academy. Since 1926, he has been the commander of the 5th Company of the 3rd Regiment of the 1st Division of the National Revolutionary Army and the commander of the 1st Battalion of the 3rd Regiment, and participated in the two Eastern Crusades and the Northern Expedition.
In 1927, Gan Lichu, the former commander of the 3rd Regiment, was promoted to the deputy commander of the 1st Division, and Li Chuying took over as the commander of the 3rd Regiment of the 1st Division.
In July 1928, the unit was downsized, the first division was reduced to the 25th Brigade of the 9th Division, Li Chuying was transferred to the 51st Regiment of the 26th Brigade of the 9th Division, and in 1930, he was promoted to the commander of the 50th Regiment of the 25th Brigade of the 9th Division, and successively participated in the Jiang Gui, Jiang Feng, Jiang Tang War and the Central Plains War. In 1932, he served as the deputy brigade commander of the 25th Brigade of the 9th Division (Brigade Commander Chen Pei).
In March 1933, Liang Huasheng, the former commander of the 247th Brigade of the 83rd Division, was promoted to the deputy commander of the 83rd Division, and Li Chuying was promoted to the commander of the 247th Brigade Major General to participate in the Great Wall War of Resistance. Later, he was transferred to Jiangxi to encircle and suppress the Red Army and pacify the Fujian Incident.
In 1937, Li Chuying was transferred to the deputy commander of the 23rd Division (division commander Li Bifan), and after the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War, he went to Shandong with his troops to block the Japanese army moving south along the Jinpu Road. In May 1938, the 23rd Division fought fiercely with the Japanese army in Yuncheng and Heze in Shandong, and the division commander Li Bifan and the chief of staff Huang Qidong died heroically.
After the war, he was promoted to the commander of the 23rd Division of the 85th Army, and in November 1940, he was promoted to the commander of the 85th Army under the sponsorship of Tang Enbo, and became the backbone of Tang Enbo's military group.
In January 1943, he was promoted to lieutenant general and deputy commander-in-chief of the 15th Group Army (commander-in-chief He Zhuguo) and commander of the 85th Army, and participated in the Battle of Henan-Zhong.
In October 1944, he entered the second phase of the first class of the army general's official class.
After graduating from Lu University in January 1945, he was reappointed as the deputy commander-in-chief of the 31st Group Army (Commander-in-Chief Wang Zhonglian) and participated in the Battle of Western Henan and Northern Hubei Province.
In 1946, the 31st Army was reorganized into the 26th Army, and he served as deputy commander.
In June 1947, he served as the commander of the 3rd Division, but was removed from his post due to his defeat in the battle with Chen Geng's Department of the People's Liberation Army in Luohe.
In January 1949, he was appointed deputy commander of the Songhu Garrison Command, and in May of the same year, he was appointed as the administrative inspector and security commander of the 5th District of Guangdong Province, and later concurrently served as the county magistrate of Lian County, and in September he was appointed as the commander of the new 9th Army.
In December of the same year, when the People's Liberation Army liberated Lianxian, Li Chuying led the remnants of more than 200 people to flee into Liannan Yaoshan. On December 17, the People's Liberation Army, under the leadership and cooperation of local Yao compatriots, found his hidden cave and captured Li Chuying alive. On November 16, 1950, he was shot in a public trial during the rebellion in Qujiang County.
