A midlife crisis is a false proposition

The so-called midlife crisis is a false proposition that has no scientific basis. Large-scale research investigations conducted by scholars have also failed to find evidence of a midlife crisis.

Rather than calling it a "midlife crisis", it is better to call it a "midlife loss". A well-being survey involving 340,000 people revealed that from the age of 18, people's well-being showed a "U" shaped curve, peaking at the age of 20 and declining at the age of 52Reached its lowest point at the age of 9. After the age of 53, happiness begins to gradually increase again.

Why is this so?One theory is that young people, despite their lack of savings and social status, are filled with hope for the future, which leads to happiness. And "midlife loss" stems from the disappointment of middle-aged people with life, even though they have much more wealth, experience, and connections than younger people. However, by the age of 53, they have become Xi, their expectations of life are lowered, and their happiness is increased.

The "U" curve of happiness seems to be the natural law of life development, and anything can experience a trough in the middle stage of development.

When we are young, we may be poor, but we are hopeful about life and always feel like we have a chance to change the world. Therefore, we work hard, find a partner, and try to make life the way we want it to be. In this hopeful process, we gain a sense of well-being.

However, when people reach middle age, they have an economic foundation and social status, as well as a spouse and children. At the same time, we are also clearly aware of our own abilities and limitations, and accept the fact that we are ordinary people after all. After no longer having unrealistic illusions about life, we begin to wake up, suffer, become depressed, become sophisticated, and anxious.

At around the age of 53, as we enter old age, we have crossed the "valley of despair" and understood the impermanence of life. Then we see heaven and earth, we see ourselves, we see sentient beings, we come to terms with ourselves, we come to terms with the world.

If you look at your life from God's perspective, you will find that a midlife crisis is a false proposition.

Middle age is actually the best period of life. We are still physically fit, experienced, broad-minded and ambitious. Middle-aged people have most of what it takes to succeed and are likely to succeed in what they wanted to do when they were young but failed to achieve it.

When people reach middle age, except for life and death, everything else is trivial. Let's get rid of those hypocrisies and move forward!
