Foxconn founder Terry Gou announced his withdrawal from the election on the same day, attracting public support because he made concessions to remove the green camp. After being silent for many days, Guo Taiming spoke out for the first time, sharing family affairs to make him "officially start" this dream.
The full text is as follows: Today is December 2nd, which is the birthday of my late brother Guo Taicheng.
I have a deep brotherhood with him, I have taken him since I was a child, I took him to play marbles, and my mother was also very relieved that I took him. But unfortunately, in July 2007, Taicheng passed away due to leukemia, and 15 years have passed in a blink of an eye. The two biggest blows I have encountered in my life are the death of my late wife Lin Shuru and the death of my late brother Guo Taicheng, both of whom died of cancer.
I would like to express my nostalgia for this part of the excerpt from my memory.
After the death of my late wife. Cancer brought great pain to my life, and I didn't expect that just one year later, my younger brother Guo Taicheng suffered from "acute myeloid leukemia" again. It turned out that my life's battle with cancer had just begun.
When my brother was battling leukemia, I didn't resign or ask for leave, and when he went to Beijing for a bone marrow transplant, I traveled to Beijing for one year, and I took a regular plane to see him there for a few days, and then I came back to Taipei.
As early as 2006, Taicheng went to play golf, and he was not comfortable in the middle of the game, so he went to Mackay Hospital to have his blood drawn, and the doctor told me very seriously that your brother had "acute myeloid leukemia", also known as "blood cancer". I immediately took Taicheng to National Taiwan University for an examination, and Professor Tian Huifen of the Department of Hematology of National Taiwan University was his attending physician, and the examination found that Taicheng belonged to a relatively special M4 type of leukemia, and there was only one way: bone marrow transplantation. This is how we began the long journey of bone marrow transplantation.
Although I am 12 years old apart from Taicheng, he looks like me, and I am willing to do whatever it takes to heal Taicheng, and I have been in contact with medical experts from the United States, China, Japan, South Korea, and various countries, especially in Beijing and Tianjin, and we have also been to Tianjin Cancer Hospital many times. There are also many mobilized people here in Taipei, National Taiwan University, Taipei Rongzong, Taipei Medical College, Wan Fang, and Xinguang, in these processes, although Taicheng is silent and obeys the arrangements of the doctor and his family, he is very strong and never complains. After receiving ** for a long time, his physical condition has become very weak, and his right hand and feet have no strength, and he has repeated fever, infection, and rejection. One day, Dr. Tang told me that Tai Cheng had told him: "If I can only live for 3 months, you might as well let me live happily and don't let me know" After listening to this, I went into the ward and talked to Tai Cheng for a long time, and I respected his wishes. On July 4, 2007, Taicheng left us like this.
After Taicheng left, the medical teams on both sides of the strait were exhausted and felt that it was a big setback. But I cheered up and said, "I hope that everyone can learn from these failures and continue to apply them to other patients." "I also went to talk to Beijing Daopei Hospital and said that we could inject money into them to help others receive similar medical treatment.
Later, I met with Lin Fangyu, the director of National Taiwan University Hospital, and mentioned that I wanted to help Dr. Tang build a more decent transplant center in National Taiwan University Hospital. It is not possible for everyone to build a good center if they want to.
Dr. Tang told me that transplant hospitals cannot exist alone, and they must have the support of many units and specialties. I said okay, then I will cooperate with National Taiwan University for a long time, transplant the treatment experience back to Taiwan, do stem cell research in the hospital, and set up the Yongling Health Association to actively promote the fight against cancer.
The death of my wife and brother has made me understand what a difficult battle this world is facing for thousands of people suffering from cancer. If even I, with my ability, still have to fight this battle so hard, what are the chances of ordinary people winning? And how many families have to suffer from the loss of a loved one? I don't want so many people to lose their loved ones to cancer like I did.
Since then, my dream of building a cancer hospital in Taipei has been officially launched.
