In ancient times, the Korean Peninsula was a barren land where people lived a primitive hunter-gatherer life. At the end of the 9th century, the Goryeo dynasty of the royal dynasty unified the Korean Peninsula and established the Goryeo kingdom there. This dynasty lasted until the end of the 14th century, when it was replaced by the Joseon dynasty of the Lee clan. During this period, Korean culture was greatly developed, especially Confucianism and Buddhism.
At the end of the 19th century, Japanese imperialism invaded the Korean Peninsula and established colonies there. During World War II, American and Soviet troops occupied the southern and northern parts of the Korean Peninsula, respectively. In the 1945 year, after the surrender of Japan, American and Soviet troops withdrew from the Korean Peninsula. However, there are still many political and cultural problems in this region.
In the early 1950s, the Korean War broke out. The war was triggered by the armies of both the north and south of the Korean Peninsula.
