Zhang Fan, born in February 1970, is a famous contemporary Chinese painter and Zen scholar. He is currently the president of Suqian Painting Academy of Jiangsu Province, a member of the sixth and fifth standing committees of Suqian City of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, a member of the Suqian Grassroots Committee of the China Democratic Construction Association, a member of the Art Committee of the Jiangsu Artists Association, a member of the China Guqin Society, and a standing director of the Jiangsu Chinese Painting Society. He used to work at the China National Academy of Painting, was the editor-in-chief of the magazine "Chinese New Literati Painting", and the artistic director of the China New Literati Painting Network.
It is the main promoter and participant of the "Suqian phenomenon of calligraphy art" in Jiangsu Province. "Light and Dust - Zhang Fan's Painting Exhibition" has been held in Nanjing, Xuzhou and Suqian in Jiangsu ProvinceLanzhou City, Dingxi City, Zhangye City, Tianshui City, Dunhuang City, Pingliang City, Longnan, Longxi, Wuwei, Qingyang City, Gansu Province;Shandong Qingdao City, Yantai City, Weifang City, Laiwu City, Qingzhou;It was exhibited in Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Shanghai, Fuzhou and other places in Guangdong Province, and was widely praised by the industry.
Mr. Fan Yang, Vice President of the Chinese Painting Academy of the China National Academy of Painting, once wrote an article with the title of "Looking at Zhang Fan's Works and Talking about the Current Situation of Chinese Painting", commenting on the artistic ideas and value of his works. One of the promoters of Chinese New Literati Painting, Zhang Fan's landscape paintings and plum blossom series works have a unique style, profound skills, and high artistic attainments, and he is a well-known and powerful painter in the contemporary Chinese painting circle. He has published many personal monographs and edited a series of professional albums.
Zhang Fan: I've been doing it for 30 years
Shuyang, Jiangsu Province, is my hometown, I studied and Xi worked in Miaotou Middle School in Shuyang, I have been away from Shuyang for nearly 30 years, and every time I return to Shuyang from other places, I feel very cordial. Although things are different from people, and the complex of my hometown has not changed, when I think of my hometown, I will feel nervous and complicated. The reason for the nervousness and complexity is that I have left my hometown for so many years, and I have not made a look in the pursuit of painting art, which can be described as a shameless sight of my hometown fathers, and Shuyang is the hometown of Chinese calligraphy, with many masters and influence. In my hometown of Shuyang, there are many winners of the Shufang Pavilion Award, as well as many female painters, and there are also many Sino-American associations, some of whom are still my students. In the past few years, I always want to communicate with them and talk about the people and things I have encountered in the past 30 years. In the past 30 years, it is hard to say, and there is joy in the Tao, which can be described as "all the way to the hard work and all the way to the song", more than 30 years of painting a lot of works, and there have been many solo exhibitions all over the country. In December 2023, I am going to return to Shuyang Cunzhentang Art Museum to hold a small solo exhibition, and it is also the first time to go back to my hometown to hold an exhibition. In order to make up for the shortcomings of the insufficient and incomplete number of exhibitions, I briefly gave a brief supplementary explanation of my pursuits, ideas and ideas in the art of painting in the past 30 years.
In 2001, when my Xi at Nanjing University of the Arts was about to end, I began to organize my creation and hold exhibitions, and on May 29 of that year, my solo exhibition opened at the Jiangsu Art Museum.
In 2004, in Nanjing Museum, I held the "Art of Taoism, Taoism and Nature - Zhang Fan's Chinese Painting Exhibition".

In 2007, Xi I walked into the Jiangsu Art Museum for the third time and jointly held the "Leading Chinese Art - Fan Yang, Liang Zhanyan, Zhang Fan, Fan Zhibin Chinese Painting Exhibition" with Fan Yang, Liang Zhanyan, Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Chinese Painting of the China National Academy of Painting.
In 2009, he went to Jiuhua Mountain in Anhui Province to meet Master Yin Gang, and then asked Jiuhua many times, followed Master Yin Gang, and recited the eighty-one volumes of "Dafang Guangfo Huayan Sutra" in full, and in 2016, participated in the writing part of Master Yin Gang's photography exhibition.
Before 2010, my creative fulcrum was to focus on Taoist philosophy, "with its light, with its dust", not seeking glory, mixing with the world, emphasizing the function of calligraphy and painting artworks. With this concept, the works created have been successively in Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Fuzhou, Jinan, Yantai, Qingdao, Weifang, Tai'an, Laiwu, Laiyang, Urumqi, Bortala Mongolian Autonomous Prefecture in Xinjiang, Lanzhou City, ** City, Pingliang City, Longnan, Longxi, Qingyang, Wuwei, Jinchang, Zhangye, Tianshui, Dingxi, Tongwei, Wudu, Dunhuang, Lintao, Lingtai, Qinxian, Qinchuan, Lixian, Zhuanglang, Jingyuan, Jingning, Chengxian, Linxia Hui Autonomous County.

In November 2018, the "Zhang Fan Painting Exhibition" was held at the Suqian Museum, and Mr. Gao Yun, then deputy director of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Culture and vice president of the Chinese Painting Founding Association, encouraged him a lot.
I think the painting refers to the hand of the moon, and the moon also shines on the plum blossoms. My plum blossom series works, try my best to pursue the ancient meaning, and at the same time emphasize the self, poetry and Zen, to paint meditation, of course, the road of exploration is still very long, inseparable from your care, support.
