University of Hull and China Scholarship Council Joint PhD Scholarship (2024) The University of Hull is a long-standing partner of the China Study Abroad Council (CSC) and will again offer full-tuition scholarships to selected students through CSC PhD Scholarships in 2024. In the Faculty of Engineering, the UOH CSC PhD Scholarship (tuition fee of approximately £17,000 per year plus living expenses of approximately £15,000 per year for 4 years) is open to outstanding Chinese applicants (up to 15 positions) in the following priority research directions and areas supported by the Royal Academy, the Royal Society, the EU Horizon Programme, etc.

1. Advanced Materials and Manufacturing Technology (Advanced Materials and Manufacturing Technology) Research Field:

In-situ and operational studies, as well as advanced numerical modeling and simulation of material structure evolution during solidification, phase transition, and additive manufacturing. We are conducting world-class, cutting-edge materials research using state-of-the-art electron, synchrotron X-ray, neutron and X-ray free electron laser imaging, tomography, diffraction and spectroscopy techniques.

Design and development of advanced structural and functional materials, such as metal alloys, composites, metallic glasses, 2D functional materials, and biomaterials, as well as advanced external physics (ultrasonic and magnetic) materials and external field additive manufacturing technologies.

2. Renewable Energy and Energy Storage Technology (Renewable Energy and Storage Technology) Research Field:

Design and development of efficient, low-cost hydrogen production and hydrogen storage material manufacturing technologies, as well as reliable control of hydrogen storage and release cycles.

Offshore wind, wave, tidal and energy storage technologies, sustainable control of energy systems, reliable and fault-tolerant control of wind and wave power generation.

English language requirements (English language requirements).

IELTS 65 or more;Listening, reading, writing, speaking not less than 60。

Academic requirements (degree requirements).

China Research University (985) first-class master's or undergraduate students (degrees awarded or to be awarded before September 2023) or 211 universities).
