Chen Yueying: What is the experience of the trainee teacher in the afternoon self-study class: educational narrative [eb ol].(2023-12-31)
The following is a class visit experience in the educational internship, from which you can discover the normality of the class and the normality of the teacher's management based on "stimulus-response".
Self-reliance: Losing the deterrence of the class teacher to take charge of the situation
As the mid-day trainee tutor had to attend a year group meeting, I, as a trainee teacher, went to the class to take care of the discipline of the afternoon self-study. The time for self-study in the afternoon is relatively long, from the time the students finish their meals at noon to the time before the first class in the afternoon, there is more than an hour. The tutor told me that during this time, the teacher will continue to teach and make corrections, the other time the students will write their homework, and the students on duty that day, the leader of each group, and the class squadron committee will help control the discipline. So I went to the classroom with my unfinished notebook.
There is only one corridor between the class and the office, and the teacher can basically be heard in the office in the class, and in the same way, there are several times when the trainee tutor comes to the class to control discipline because he hears the noisy sounds between classes and self-study, and uses a way of speaking in a way that seems to be "national unity": you are so noisy that our teachers can hear it in the office. However, since the trainee tutor was in a separate conference room instead of the next office during my visit, I could not expect to be able to ask for help from the trainee tutor who has the natural "deterrent" status of the class teacher when I can't control the class discipline.
Since I had only sat at the end of the class and listened to a few Chinese lessons, I had only communicated with a few more active students sitting at the end of the class, but when I walked into the class, most of the students realized that I was a trainee teacher. I told my classmates to continue to do their own thing, and I could feel that the students were not completely concentrating on their homework below, and some students secretly talked to the students at the same table or in the corridor next door, and passed the notebook, but for the third-year students, the whole was quite quiet.
Fighting wit: Stop the loss in time when you find the trick of going to the toilet
After a while, some students went to the podium to apply for pencil sharpening, toileting, etc., and I agreed to all the reasonable requests, but then I observed that some boys who seemed to be more active seemed to have discovered the way to "go out to the toilet" as a way to leave the classroom properly, and several boys applied for the toilet in a row within about three to five minutes, and then I realized why the homeroom teacher had a special sentence for going to the toilet when I was a student, called "wait for the classmates in front of you to come back after going to the toilet , probably to prevent students from using this excuse to gather in the toilet to fight – yes, in the toilet. Because there is a preparatory bell between classes, the distance between the classroom and the playground is relatively far, and there are teachers patrolling in the corridor, some students will choose to play with their classmates in the toilet, but the space in the toilet is narrow and the ground is slippery and easy to fall. So I applied the "special speech technique", and sure enough, several students took out their homework again after listening to it.
Dou Yong: Cooperate with the squadron committee to upgrade the punishment warning
But later, a boy sitting on the "left" position of the podium and his classmates exchanged words, first said a few words about the requirements of copying homework, and then soon began to chat, as if he had said an Internet buzzword, and several classmates on the side began to laugh. I planned to control the discipline, but before that, the student who was sitting at the back of the group and wearing the epaulette of the squadron committee called the name of the student Zuo **, saying that the afternoon self-study discipline warning was once and the points were deducted for the second time. Later, a student spoke in other corners of the classroom, and a squadron committee member maintained discipline and said loudly and quietly, and the criticized student was not convinced to say that the squadron committee spoke loudly and did not keep quiet. Seeing that the discipline was about to get out of control, I stood up and wrote on the blackboard the words "violation of discipline in the afternoon self-study", and asked the team leader and the squadron committee to write the student number of the student who was warned once, and then decided whether to erase the name or report it to the teacher according to the situation.
This practice actually originated from the experience of the homeroom teacher in managing class discipline when I was a student, and it was really effective. But it may also be because there is an assignment to be handed in before the end of the afternoon self-study, and there is basically nothing else that happens after that.
Reflection: Prior experience yields results faster than theory
After watching the afternoon self-study, I chatted with the trainee tutor about the experience of the class teacher, mainly sharing that I realized the experience and wisdom of the homeroom teachers when I was a student through the class. The teacher also said that when she was a new recruit, the most difficult thing was how to establish rules in the class, because compared with the old teachers, the students are closer to the younger teachers, but it is easy not to regard the young teachers as authority.
All in all, through the experience of going deep into the specific class to supervise the afternoon self-study during the internship, I really realized that I am still far from a mature teacher. In addition, I felt the rationality and necessity of the team leader and the squadron committee to participate in the class management, and it was with the presence of these "little teachers" that I was able to achieve better results in this class visit.
