Stoke City have appointed Steven Schumacher as their new manager, who has been brought in from Champions League rivals Plymouth Argentina. Schumacher led Plymouth to League One title last season but currently sit 16th. The 39-year-old coach has signed a three-and-a-half-year contract with Stoke City and will be staffed by assistant head coach Mark Hughes, first-team coach Peter Kavanagh and goalkeeper coach Darren Becht. After sacking coach Alex Neal, Schumacher was hired as Stoke City's new head coach.

In his new role, Schumacher aims to instill the values of bravery, hard work and attacking football into the Stoke City team. Supporters of the club can expect a team that resonates with them. Plymouth, meanwhile, are looking for the right man to lead the team forward. President Simon Hallette expressed regret over the loss of Schumacher, but wished him success in his new position.

Hallaite also said the club has built a strong organisation and football philosophy that can cope with the challenges of personnel changes. Stoke City are currently on a winless run of eight games and will be hoping Schumacher's appointment will bring a turnaround. Schumacher spent two seasons at Plymouth, becoming Stoke City's sixth permanent manager since 2018. Schumacher's first game in charge of Stoke City will be against Millwall on Saturday, while Plymouth Argentina will be coached by football director Neil Dusnip and first-team coach Kevin Nanskiwell on an interim basis, while they are still looking for a new manager.
