Hetian red jade, there has always been such a saying in the jade world: "one red, two yellow and three mutton fat". This sentence means that red jade is the most valuable in the Hetian jade family, and the value of sheep fat jade, which we often think, is second only to red jade. It can be seen that the charm of ruby is extraordinary.

The so-called red jade in the market generally refers to the red seed material. Hetian jade red is formed by the penetration of iron ions, and after playing, the black color will gradually turn red. Therefore, Hongqin is more playable and variable, which is one of the reasons why many people like it.

Red has been loved by Chinese since ancient times, so the value of red seeds in Hetian jade is very high, and it has also become one of the classic skin colors.

Red seed material also includes sprinkled red skin, jujube red skin, red skin, etc. Good red skin and white meat are known for their beautiful appearance and quality texture, and they are scarce and expensive. The red-skinned seeds are usually green or gray-white, and when the skin color is gathered together, it is a high-grade jade.

Hetian red jade is a precious variety of Hetian jade in folk literature. In ancient times, Hetian red jade has been circulated in the royal court.

As the saying goes: "Jade is red and valuable", indicating that red jade is extremely precious. The description of ruby in the record is "as bright as a cockscomb, with a luster of oil, its purple-red part is like blood coagulation, and the red part is like cinnabar, and the texture is delicate and warm, and the hardness is high." Wang Yi of the Eastern Han Dynasty believed that jade was divided into four colors: red, white, green and black, with red as the top.

Zhang Shinan of the Song Dynasty wrote "The Chronicles of the Eunuchs" also has such a description: jade is divided into five colors, white as fat, yellow as steamed chestnut, black as lacquer, red as a cockscomb, or slightly darker, such as rouge.

Fu Heng et al.'s "Atlas of the Western Regions" said: The jade produced by the Hetian Jade River has cyanosis (purple red), yellow, blue, blue, and white. **The book "Antique Guide" written by Zhao Ruzhen, a gold and stone expert, also describes red jade, calling it the rarest, most precious and rarest. You can see how rare it is.

As for the origin of red jade, there are written descriptions of the old river near Maliyan in the Hotan region of Xinjiang. This is related to the mystery of the old river that has been dormant for many years and is relatively rich in minerals. The characteristics of the Laohedao seed material near Mariyan are very cow-colored seeds and rare seeds, including red jade seeds and topaz seeds.

There are two main reasons for the formation of ruby. One is that jade is formed by the penetration of minerals such as iron oxide; The other is natural native jade, which is naturally formed during the production of jade. Of course, iron ions are responsible for the color – they are formed in tremolite with aluminum atoms, not "polluting" the color.

The color of the red material is much brighter, but the color is dark on the outside and light on the inside. The red jade described by "glamorous as a cockscomb" is mostly colored red jade, and its external red is very gorgeous. The disadvantage is that the internal structure of the colored red jade material is relatively loose, stony and rigid, and the light transmission is insufficient. Its formation principle is similar to that of Qin topaz material, which is a very good red jade material.

The original ruby color is mainly dark red and burgundy. "Its purple red place is like blood clotting" refers to the original red jade. The color of the original ruby is uniform, the color inside and outside is consistent, the color difference between the whole body is not large, the light transmittance is good, and the jade structure is relatively compact.

The cortex of red-skinned seed material and Tianyu is very thin, generally less than 1 mm. The shape of the color skin is varied, some are cloud-like, some are vein-like, and some are scattered. The formation of the color skin is due to the transformation of ferrous oxide in Hetian jade into iron trioxide under oxidative conditions, so it is secondary.

The color distribution of natural Hetian jade red skin seeds varies in shades. The surface of the real red-skinned Hetian jade seed material looks warm and moist, and the color of the fake red Hetian jade seed material is relatively evenly distributed but has no luster, and the color is relatively bright, giving people an unnatural feeling.

The color of the jade in the receiving area is darker, and the further you go, the lighter the color becomes. The closer you are to the surface from the outside to the inside, the darker the skin will be. This is not the case with fake skin, which is more evenly distributed and does not appear to be rigid without excessive gradients.
