This year is the 10th year of the National Memorial for the Victims of Nanjing. In the more than 80 years since the Nanjing Incident, the investigation and research of scholars have been increasingly in-depth in order to expose the truth of the incident and disseminate historical facts.

According to incomplete statistics, there are more than 300 kinds of Nanjing big ** theme books published in Chinese mainland, mainly covering five major types such as historical archives, dictionary catalogs, academic research, public popularization, and art works, basically forming a structured and systematic Nanjing big ** theme book publishing system. Among them, historical archives and academic research have a wide and far-reaching impact. The historical materials mainly bring together the diaries written by European and American missionaries and doctors who witnessed this history, news reports, oral histories of survivors, as well as original materials scattered in archives and libraries at home and abroad, such as "Rabe's Diary" and "Weitling's Diary" published by Jiangsu People's Publishing House, and "Dongshilang's Diary" published by Jiangsu Education Publishing HouseNanjing University Press published Zhu Chengshan's "Collection of Testimonies of the Survivors of the Japanese Invasion of China" and other oral history materials are the "living evidence" of Nanjing Da** - the memory information provided by the survivors; The "Collection of Historical Materials of Nanjing University" edited by Professor Zhang Xianwen published by Jiangsu People's Publishing House (72 volumes) and the "Memory of the World Register - Nanjing University Archives" (20 volumes) published by Nanjing Publishing House are rich in content, which ironclad proves the truth of Nanjing University from different dimensions, effectively refutes the lies of Japanese right-wingers who deny Nanjing University, and at the same time, it also lays a detailed historical foundation for the academic research of Nanjing University. At present, academic research books are increasingly highlighting the multi-level and multi-angle research of historical facts, such as "Research on the History of Nanjing" by Zhang Sheng and others published by Phoenix Publishing House, and "Research on the International Security Zone of Nanjing" by Zhang Lianhong and others published by Jiangsu People's Publishing House. The large-scale theme reference book "Nanjing Da** Dictionary" published by Nanjing Publishing House classifies and sorts out various forms of historical archives, lists the definitions, explanations, or explanations of the entries one by one, and makes full use of image materials, with words, to reproduce multi-dimensional historical scenes.

With the development of the times and the diversification of readers' needs, the theme of Nanjing University has been published to the public in a variety of genres such as documentary literature, educational readers, etc., such as Yan Geling's "Jinling Thirteen Hairpins", Ha Jin's "Nanjing Requiem", He Jianming's documentary literature "Nanjing Da** Complete Documentary", Xiao Zhencai and Gu Maofu's reportage "Under the Monument - Field Investigation of the Burial Site of the Compatriots Killed in Nanjing by the Japanese Invasion of China" and so on. Among them, "The Thirteen Hairpins of Jinling" was adapted from a novella ** to a well-known movie by the public, and a long story of the same name was published after the film and television adaptation**;Nanjing Da**quan Documentary" has won the Book Nomination Award of the 6th China Outstanding Publication Award (December 2016) and the 4th China Publishing Award Book Award (May 2017), which has had a wide impact.

Young people are the future of the motherland and the hope of the nation. On February 27, 2014, the seventh meeting of the Standing Committee of the Twelfth National People's Congress passed a decision to establish December 13 as the date of the national memorial for the victims of Nanjing in the form of legislation. Among them, the primary school version of the "Memory of Blood and Fire" public memorial book was also published in multiple languages on the national memorial website and the official website of the Memorial Hall of the Compatriots Killed in Nanjing of the Japanese Invasion of China. At the same time, the publisher has also developed English and Japanese editions of the public memorial reader. The Nanjing International Peace School also uses these textbooks as basic teaching materials to conduct public welfare training on the theme of history and peace for young students at home and abroad.

Most of the books on the theme of art works in Nanjing are mainly displayed in the world, such as poetry and painting collections, sculpture collections, etc. In addition, there are also forms of literary expression, such as scripts, musical scores, poems, etc., which account for a relatively small proportion of all genres, but most of these books have excellent content and tasteful binding design, which are often more direct to the reader's heart and burst out historical emotions. For example, "To Soft to Tough, to Dark to Beautiful: Splendid Peace - Liang Xuefang Embroidery Art Exhibition Exhibition Album", is a group of embroidery works created by the famous embroidery artist Ms. Liang Xuefang based on the history of Nanjing University with the theme of "remembering history and cherishing peace", designed by Zhu Yingchun, a famous designer of the Calligraphy Culture Research Center of Nanjing Normal University, and the binding adopts a "magnifying glass" to show the characteristics of Suzhou embroidery, giving people a sense of comfortAnother example is the famous sculptor Professor Wu Weishan's "History of Soul Sculpture", in which he presided over and designed the creation of large-scale theme sculptures "Broken Family", "Escape", "Cry of Wronged Souls" and "Wall of Victory" published, which further explained the artistic value and historical value of this group of sculptures, and played its role in impacting people's hearts on a larger scale. In addition, there are poems "The Unyielding City Wall", a collection of poems and paintings "Existing History - A Collection of Sketches and Portraits of the Survivors of Nanjing", an ink painting "The Catastrophe of the 20th Century - A Series of Ink Paintings of the Wall of the Victims of Nanjing", the script "Forty-Nine Days, Sacrifice", and the score "Heart Sacrifice - Composed to Mourn the Compatriots Killed in Nanjing", etc., all of which participate in the reconstruction of historical memory through artistic creation, guide readers to relive history, and call for peace and friendship through historical memory.

In recent years, Nanjing's publishing units have spared no effort in the development of Nanjing's major theme book topics. In addition to paper publications, books such as "The Complete Documentary of Nanjing Da** Witnesses: A Remembrance That Can't Be Forgotten" and "Black Memory: Nanjing Da**" have also been developed into audio books to achieve innovation in communication media. In the view of Dai Yiliang, deputy editor-in-chief of Jiangsu People's Publishing House, the genre of Nanjing's major books has changed from historical materials to academic research results to documentary literature, from macro to micro, from China to Britain, the United States, Germany and Japan, and other countries, with authors from experts and scholars to ordinary people, and the presentation methods range from paper books to audio books. The genre that is more likely to resonate with the original intention of popularizing the knowledge of the history of Nanjing University among more ordinary readers, especially young people. ”

History exists objectively, and historical memory needs to be constantly constructed, shaped and inherited. The publishing industry deeply excavates the universal significance and contemporary value contained in the history of Nanjing, conforms to the trend of the times of peace and development, from the innovation of the book genre to the transformation of the writing perspective, from the awakening of the public's popular consciousness to the implementation of focus communication, from the development and publication of historical facts to the theme of peace, and is committed to revealing the truth of Nanjing University through books, solidifying memories, inheriting historical facts, and spreading the seeds of peace.
