Reporter: Do you have any comment on the UK's sanctions on Chinese companies?
Embassy Spokesperson: We strongly deplore and firmly oppose the UK's actions that violate international law, abuse unilateral sanctions and undermine the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies. Such irresponsible measures not only damage the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises, but also damage the economic and trade relations and cooperation between China and the UK.
We have lodged solemn representations with the UK side, demanding that the UK side immediately stop the unwarranted sanctions on Chinese companies and protect the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies. At the same time, we also call on the UK to respect facts and international law, adopt a rational, fair and responsible position, and create a favorable environment for economic and trade relations and cooperation between China and the UK.
In handling international relations, all countries should abide by international law and norms, respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of other countries, and protect human rights and freedoms. This is a principle universally recognized by the international community and an obligation that every country should abide by. However, some countries have abused unilateral sanctions to unreasonably suppress enterprises and individuals in other countries on the grounds of so-called "support for the war machine", which is extremely irresponsible and immoral.
We believe that economic and trade relations and cooperation among countries should be based on equality, mutual benefit and win-win results, and differences and problems should be resolved through dialogue and consultation. China and the UK have extensive cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, science and technology, and culture, and the two sides should strengthen communication and coordination to jointly promote the healthy, stable and sustainable development of bilateral relations.
