Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes said he was a "crying baby" in Bournemouth's defeat
Bruno Fernandes has come under fire from expert Chris Sutton after a brilliant performance in Manchester United's 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth on Saturday.
Former Celtic and Chelsea striker Chris Sutton accused Bruno Fernandes of behaving like a "crying child" in the closing stages of United's 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth on Saturday.
Fernandes was booked for something to referee Peter Banks with just over five minutes remaining. It was his fifth yellow card of the season and ruled him out of Sunday's trip to Anfield against Liverpool.
Premier League rules state that any player who has received three yellow cards in a team's first 19 league games must be suspended for one match. As such, it will be the first league game the Portugal international has missed since Manchester United's <>-defeat to Aston Villa in Villa Park in January 2022.
Fernandez's decision to make his way into Banks's notebook has come under fire from Sutton, who is now a regular commentator on BBC Sport. As well as describing him as a "crying kid", he also claimed it was a "bad leader" for the United captain
Writing an op-ed for the Daily Mail, Sutton said: "Bruno Fernandes has made a particular quote that sums up the shockingly poor attitude of Manchester United's players. He admits that they think it "will be easy".
Manchester United underestimated Bournemouth, and they were educated as a result. I witnessed the latest chaotic performance by Erik Ten Hag's team at Old Trafford. They lost possession 161 times.
Fernandez accounted for 22 of them. He tried to play with the Hollywood Pass and ended up in Hartlepool (no offense to any monkey hanger reading this). He then received a yellow card for acting like a crying baby at the end of the beating.
This is his fifth game of the season, so he is now banned from Sunday's game against Liverpool – a game that United lost 7-0 last season. Captain leadership is worse.
