At 3:14 p.m. today (9th), Taiwan's defense department suddenly issued four consecutive Taiwan-level alerts, targeting the mainland to launch an Einstein probe satellite at 15:03 and fly over the southern part of Taiwan to warn the Taiwanese people. Paradoxically, the alert is marked as "satellite" in Chinese, but "missle" in English.
In an interview, Kuomintang Chairman Zhu Lilun pointed out that the whole people were shocked and thought it was a missile, and that Taiwan's defense department was misleading the people. Zhu Lilun said, in fact, I believe that in the past and now, there must be a lot of satellite launches, why for this satellite launch, such a way to issue an alarm, the defense department or the authorities, must make a complete explanation.
Lien Shengwen, vice chairman of the Kuomintang, sarcastically said: Hsiao Mei-qin, the candidate for deputy leader of the Taiwan region, has been in the United States for so long, should she teach the difference between English for satellites and missiles in the defense department?Lien Shengwen said that Taiwan's defense department deliberately described the mainland's exploration of satellites as launching missiles, which is basically the intervention of Taiwan's machinery in the election. Lian Shengwen said that this practice also highlights that *** has been unscrupulous, and it really means that ***'s election has fallen behind and is about to lose, so he can only use the Taiwan machine to mediate the election and release hypocritical information to arouse the anger of the people.
Kuomintang lawmaker Xu Qiaoxin also caught the text message also writing "airraid", which translates to air raid in Chinese. Xu Qiaoxin said that when the missile passed over Taiwan, the authorities directly pretended to be dead, and the satellite was launched before the election to quickly issue three warnings for the whole of Taiwan, and if Lai Qingde was elected, he would receive the alarm every day, "I don't want such a day."
Many netizens on the island also poured into social forums to mock and leave messages, "Is the genius IT minister not very good at English", "Why is Chinese and English inconsistent", "Google translation is relatively strong", "Written for overseas **, stir up a wave of news". Some netizens shouted that this was a "mango alert" and "delicious dried mangoes, fresh in season".
Taiwan's defense department issued a press release earlier saying that at about 15:03 today (9th), Chinese mainland carried out a satellite launch mission on a Long March series carrier rocket at the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in Sichuan. The rocket's flight path flew over the southern part of Taiwan without warning, and the altitude was outside the atmosphere. The Taiwan military has used the joint intelligence monitoring and reconnaissance system to grasp relevant information on ballistic dynamics and trajectories, and has activated the air threat warning system to notify the public to be vigilant through text messages. However, due to the negligence of the English language in the newsletter, the original system wording was not updated synchronously to accurately express that the launch was a satellite rather than a missile, and the defense department apologized to the public.
According to CCTV news, at 15:03 on January 9, 2024, China successfully launched the Einstein Probe Science Satellite with the Long March-2C carrier rocket at the Xichang Satellite Launch Center, and the satellite successfully entered the predetermined orbit, and the launch mission was a complete success.
