On December 22, the 2023 Chengcun Oyster Food and Culture Week of "Green Yangjiang Oyster Capital of China" kicked off in Yangxi County.
10,000 acres of mangrove forests have built the "Great Wall of the Sea" for the oyster industry.
As the saying goes, "the winter solstice is the New Year", on the day of the winter solstice on December 22, the 2023 Chengcun Oyster Culture Week of "Green Beauty Yangjiang Chinese Oyster Capital" kicked off in Yangxi County. An oyster-filled "Oyster Feast for 10,000 People" will create "eating oysters on the winter solstice" into a new folk custom.
Yangxi is known as the "Chinese oyster township", and the area of oyster farming in the county is 520,000 acres, with an annual output of more than 60,000 tons of fresh oysters. Among them, Chengcun oyster is a national geographical indication product and a regional public brand in Guangdong Province, with a history of nearly 200 years of cultivation and grows in the 10,000-mu mangrove demonstration area of Chengcun Bay. Thanks to the green ecological environment, the oysters produced here are of good quality and delicious, and are known as the "king of oysters".
As the "Capital of China's Condiments" and "China's Fragrant Valley", Yangxi actively relies on the platform of China Xianggu (Yangxi) Health Food Industrial Park to vigorously develop oyster sauce, oyster soy sauce and other oyster deep-processed products, which has effectively promoted the integrated development of the industry.
Taking this event as an opportunity, Yangxi has extensively mobilized and gathered the strength of the majority of township sages and all walks of life to further publicize and promote ecological resources, cultural and tourism resources, industrial advantages and famous and high-quality agricultural (sideline) products, gather the majestic force of high-quality development, and promote the "Millions and Millions Project" to go deeper and more practical.
Oyster extravaganza. Shanhaiyang West Exhibition "Oyster" Love.
Oysters as a medium for development.
From December 22nd to 31st, various activities of the 2023 Chengcun Oyster Food and Culture Week of "Green Yangjiang and China Oyster Capital" will be launched in Yangxi. The event was hosted by the people of Yangjiang City and the Guangdong Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, aiming to implement the specific deployment of the Provincial Party Committee "1310" and the Municipal Party Committee's "433" work arrangement, and further prosper the local economy, improve people's livelihood, stabilize employment, and increase farmers' income by doing a good job in oyster articles.
On the morning of the 22nd, the event kicked off at Yangxi County Cultural Square. The leading guests held a special promotional video of "China's Oyster Capital Oyster Beauty Yangjiang", held a ceremony for the township sages to help the towns "Millions of Projects" and the ecological construction of Lumei Yangxi, fresh supermarkets, hotels and oyster processing enterprises signed purchase and sales cooperation agreements, and held the 2023 Chengcun Oyster Food Culture Week Short ** Competition and Doucai Cooking Competition Award Ceremony, Chengcun Town was awarded the first batch of National Agricultural Industry Strong Town Award.
On the evening of the 22nd, the "Oyster Banquet for 10,000 People" of the Food Culture Week was staged. In addition to the main venue, Yangxi also set up branch venues in various towns to create an "oyster feast" for diners, setting off the climax of the event.
Yangxi County Cultural Square has set up the "Taste of Moyang" exhibition area, the "Oyster's Life" exhibition area, the e-commerce live broadcast area, the Yangjiang kitchen utensils display area, the financial and insurance institutions exhibition area, the logistics cold chain exhibition area, the intangible cultural heritage food interactive area, and the game interactive area, so that the masses and tourists can have an in-depth understanding of the industrial characteristics and food culture of Chengcun oysters.

Yangxi County held a symposium on the "Millions of Projects" to further condense the wisdom of the villagers, gather the strength of the villagers, give full play to the role of the villagers, and accelerate the high-quality development of Yangxi.
Oyster specialty. "Chinese Oyster Township" sighs oysters.
Oysters are delicious and nutritious.
Yangxi is surrounded by mountains and seas, with a beautiful marine ecological environment and a long history of oyster farming, and has won the honors of "China's Oyster Township" and the National Coastal Oyster Hanging Breeding Demonstration Base. Chengcun oysters are known as the "milk of the sea", which is not only large, but also has a fresh and sweet taste and a smooth color.
Since the 90s of the 20th century, the people of Chengcun Town have begun to develop the oyster farming industry on a large scale. The artificial breeding method has gone through five stages: natural seedling cultivation of stones, natural seedling cultivation of cement pillars, scaffolding cage culture, davit culture, and hanging culture of glue rope sticky oysters. At present, Chengcun oysters are hoisted by sticking oysters with rubber wire rope, which is simple and easy to operate, which greatly improves the density of hoisting culture, and the oysters are uniform in size and high in yield.
Since ancient times, oysters have been among the ranks of gourmet treasures, and the industrious and intelligent Yangxi people have developed a variety of ways to eat oysters, including steaming, boiling, frying, stir-frying, stewing, baking and other methods. During this event, the award-winning works of the Doucai Cooking Competition were also displayed at the main venue, so that the masses and tourists could feast their eyes and mouths.
In addition to selling fresh oysters, Yangxi oyster farmers also combine intangible cultural heritage with modern cuisine, and launch intangible cultural heritage food products such as Chengcun oyster rice and ancient oyster sauce making, attracting tourists from other places to come to taste oyster dishes, taste oysters and sigh oysters.
It is understood that Chengcun oysters have the characteristics of high protein content and low cholesterol content, and the zinc content in the oyster body is also among the best in common foods. Therefore, Chengcun oysters are not only suitable for making oyster soy sauce and oyster sauce, but also can be used as a raw material for condiments such as oyster soy sauce, and the deep processing of oyster products has broad prospects.
Oyster industry. Create a good industry for farmers to get rich.
China's oyster township is "good" and "abundant".
During the winter solstice, the oyster wharf in Hongguang Village, Chengcun Town, is a good "abundant" scene. In the early morning, oyster boats are busy carrying, cleaning and opening oysters, and a faint smell of oysters lingers in the village.
In terms of the development of oyster farming industry, Chengcun Town has unique superior conditions, the water area here is 3,500 hectares, it is a "bag" shaped bay, the wind and waves in the bay are calm, the water flow is smooth, and the brackish and fresh water meet, and the bait is rich in organisms.
Chengcun oysters are the pillar industry of "one village, one product" in Hongguang Village, and now the "oysters" here are full of atmosphere, the rows of small western-style buildings in the village are neat and tidy, and the villagers' pockets are also bulging. More than 80% of the villagers in Hongguang Village are engaged in oyster farming, and Chengcun oysters, which are full of treasures, have become a powerful "engine" for strengthening the town and leading the village.
In 2023, the oyster production in Yangxi County will be 610,000 tons, with an output value of 70.3 billion yuan, enterprises engaged in oyster processing and sales have driven tens of thousands of jobs, and the oyster industry has also become a well-known and good industry to get rich. In recent years, Yangxi has promoted development through digital empowerment, enabling Chengcun oysters to gradually achieve large-scale farming, standardized management and intensive management.
Yangxi takes the opportunity of promoting the "Millions and Thousands Project" to fully promote the upgrading of the whole chain of Chengcun oyster characteristic industries, and actively promote the construction of Chengcun oyster provincial modern agricultural industrial park. The industrial park has introduced leading agricultural enterprises to vigorously develop projects such as comprehensive processing and utilization of Chengcun oysters, commercial processing and processing of oysters, and cold chain storage and transportation.
In order to better polish the brand of "China Oyster Township" and further promote the in-depth integration of "agriculture, culture and tourism", Yangxi is building a "China Oyster Township" rural revitalization demonstration belt, and building a Chengcun Oyster Culture Demonstration and Promotion Base in Hongguang Village, Chengcun Town, striving to create the image of "Oyster Love All the Way to Yangxi Mountain, Sea, and Yangxi".
Front-line practice. 10,000 acres of mangrove forests build the "Great Wall on the Sea".
"Green Guard" guards the Yangxi oyster industry.
We have been grateful for this mangrove forest for generations, and it is this mangrove forest that has nurtured the oyster farming industry in Hongguang Village and brought wealth to our people. Looking at the continuous mangrove forest in front of him, Xie Changsheng, a large oyster farmer in Chengcun, said.
The total area of the mangrove county-level nature reserve in Chengcun County, Yangxi County is nearly 150,000 acres, of which nearly 7,000 acres are contiguous areas, which is the largest contiguous natural mangrove forest in western Guangdong except for Zhanjiang National Mangrove Nature Reserve.
The mangrove ecosystem is a multi-stage purification system, and when the water quality improves, the quality of the seafood will be better. The results show that mangroves can not only effectively absorb pollutants in the water body, but also play a role in fixing nitrogen and phosphorus to a certain extent, so that the eutrophication of the water body can be alleviated, so it is known as the "green guard" of the ocean.
Looking down from the sky, the mangrove forest is like a piece of jade embedded in Chengcun Bay, and the Chengcun oysters produced here are large and fatty, and delicious. It is thanks to the "guarding" of this mangrove forest that the Chengcun oyster industry has been able to continue to grow and develop.
It is understood that with mangroves as natural barriers, Chengcun Town can more effectively resist disasters such as typhoons. At the same time, the mangrove forest can also provide the necessary microbial environment for the reproduction of Chengcun oysters, and the fallen leaves can be converted into microorganisms after decomposition, which is a good natural feed for Chengcun oysters.
In addition, mangroves are also a veritable "Great Wall of the Sea", which can improve the ecological protection capacity of the coast, help prevent and reduce disasters, curb the degradation of coastal wetland resources and the deterioration of the ecological environment, purify water quality, and promote the healthy and high-quality development of aquaculture.
In recent years, Yangxi County has seized the favorable opportunity of comprehensively promoting the "forest chief system", strengthened the management and protection of mangrove resources in the region by setting up forest chiefs and forest rangers at all levels, further enhanced the public's awareness of ecological and environmental protection, and jointly protected the "Great Wall of the Sea".
