On December 7, the final of the 2023 Guangdong Provincial Labor Dispute Diversified Resolution Business Skills Competition was held in Guangzhou. 10 contestants, including Chen Shiyuan, a judge of the Civil Trial Division of the Guangzhou Intermediate People's Court, won the title of "Top Ten Mediators".
The competition was jointly sponsored by the Guangdong Provincial Court, the Provincial Federation of Trade Unions, and the Provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security. The simulated cases in the competition are all based on real cases in Guangdong, including employees who take leave to go home for funerals and are dismissed, as well as labor rights disputes in new formats such as online delivery workers and anchors with goods. 21 teams will be formed at the prefecture level and above in the province to participate in the competition, and each team is composed of 1 court officer, 1 trade union staff, 1 arbitrator, and 1 trade union mediator or lawyer.
In recent years, Guangdong courts have insisted on putting the non-litigation dispute resolution mechanism at the forefront, deepening the "court + trade union + human resources and social security" diversified labor dispute resolution mechanism, strengthening coordination and linkage with trade unions and human resources and social security, improving the source governance, negotiation and reconciliation, and multiple mediation mechanisms, strengthening the connection between mediation, arbitration and litigation, improving the quality and efficiency of diversified labor dispute resolution, and effectively safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of workers.
From January to October this year, the provincial courts successfully mediated 4880,000 labor dispute cases, with a mediation rate of more than 6836%, successfully recovering nearly 10 of the 40,050 workers in arrears6.7 billion yuan.
