As the cold air moves south, many places in Hainan will continue to be cold and rainy in the next few days. Recently, the Hainan Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and the Provincial Meteorological Bureau jointly issued an early warning of low temperature and cold damage risk (medium risk) of melons and vegetables in winter.

On the afternoon of December 17, researchers from the Vegetable Research Institute of the Provincial Academy of Agricultural Sciences went to some winter melon and vegetable production bases and perennial vegetable bases in four districts of Haikou City to carry out technical guidance. According to Chen Yiyi, director of the Vegetable Research Institute of the Provincial Academy of Agricultural Sciences and director of the Hainan Experimental Station of the National Bulk Vegetable System, this round of cooling will have a certain impact on the growth of vegetables, especially in the northern and central regions.

Chen Yiyi suggested that growers should do a good job in cold prevention in accordance with the guidance measures issued by the Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, focusing on five aspects: first, the use of facilities to prevent cold and keep warm, perennial vegetable base to give full play to the role of various greenhouses, no greenhouse base can be pulled in the field to prevent insects or shade nets to block the wind, reduce the damage and cold damage caused by the cold wind, leafy vegetables can be made of small arch shed covered with film to keep warm, but also properly ventilated;Second, it is necessary to do a good job of ditch cleaning and drainage in time to ensure that there is no obvious water accumulation in the fieldThe third is that there is no rain in the place as soon as possible to spray a protective agent, the place that has rained should seize the cold wave process ** now stop the rain to spray, scientifically add adhesive additives, improve the protective effect of leaves;Fourth, do not fertilize during the cold wave;Fifth, after the end of the cold wave, gradually remove the sheltering facilities, do a good job of ventilation, do a good job in pest control in a timely manner, and then fertilize the vegetables to resume their growth and strengthen management.
