Since the outbreak of the Palestinian-Israeli clashes on 7 October, clashes along the Lebanese-Israeli border have also continued. According to the Times of Israel, Israeli Defense Minister Gallant said on December 6 local time that the best option for Israel is to implement and enforce UN Security Council Resolution 1701 on the cessation of hostilities between Lebanon and Israel through diplomatic channels. Gallant also added that if diplomacy fails, Israel will "use all available means" to push back Allah through military action.

There has been no response from the Lebanese side.

According to AFP on December 5**, the Lebanese military noted that two Lebanese were killed in an Israeli attack on southern Lebanon on the 5th, including a Lebanese soldier.

The Lebanese army deployed in the border area reportedly said in a statement that "Israeli enemies attacked" a Lebanese military post in the Adeesse area, "killing one soldier and wounding three others."

The Israeli military acknowledged the incident and claimed it targeted a position of Allah, an ally of Hamas, "with the aim of eliminating an imminent threat." The Israeli military said on social media that "the Lebanese Armed Forces were not the target of this attack" and said it "regretted the incident".

Israeli Chief of Staff Hezi Halevi said on the 5th that the Israeli army "resolutely strikes anyone who prepares or attempts to harm Israeli citizens and soldiers" and promised to "make Allah pay a heavy price."
