"Iron Fan" Song Qing ranked seventy-sixth, with an asterisk of Di Junxing. Song Qing was the younger brother of Song Jiang, the leader of Liangshan, and the two joined Liangshanbo together.

In **, the nickname "Iron Fan" of the Song and Qing dynasties is not clearly explained, and its meaning has been interpreted in many ways by later readers. One view is that since fans are usually used to fan the wind, and iron fans appear impractical, the term "iron fan" may be used here as a metaphor for a figure who has little role in Liangshanbo. Another view is that the Iron Fan may have been a defensive **, similar to a shield, used to protect the Song River from enemy attacks, hence the Song Qing's nickname "Iron Fan" reflecting his defensive role in Liangshanbo.

Song Qing's image in "Water Margin" is not very prominent, and his character is relatively marginal, but his presence strengthens the unity within Liangshanbo and the relationship between Song Jiang and other Liangshan heroes. After being recruited in Liangshanbo, Song Qing was named Wu Yilang. At the end of **, after Song Jiang ** was killed by poisonous wine, Song Qing inherited Song Jiang's name, but he was still a farmer in Yuncheng, and the court rewarded him with 100,000 yuan and 3,000 acres of land. Later, Song Qingde had a son, Song Anping, who should pass the imperial examination and became a secretary bachelor. The above plot is summarized according to the content of the 120-chapter "Water Margin", and some other versions have slightly different plots, such as the 100-episode version without Tian Hu and Wang Qing, and the 70-episode of Jin Sheng's commentary without the plot after the great reunion. But most of the content involving the Song and Qing dynasties is basically the same.
