Recently, the results of the trusted open source evaluation were released at the open source and software ** chain sub-forum of the "2024 China Academy of Information and Communications Technology ICT In-depth Observation Report" hosted by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology. A total of 3 open source communities and 5 open source projects on HUAWEI CLOUD have been certified as trusted open source communities and trusted open source projects, among which Kubeedge, Karmada, and Volcano have received advanced ratings in terms of operation, governance, and development capabilities.
HUAWEI CLOUD's three major open source communities (Kubeedge, Volcano, and Karmada) have successfully passed the CAICT's Trusted Open Source Community Maturity Capability Test, and have received advanced community ratings in terms of community operation, community governance, and community development capabilities, which is the highest level of CAICT's Trusted Open Source Governance Capability Maturity Certification.
From the perspectives of infrastructure, community governance, community operation and community development, the Trusted Open Source Community Assessment sorts out the content and indicators that the open source community should pay attention to, and focuses on how to build an active developer ecosystem and a trusted open source community. The Advanced rating is the highest level of evaluation for the trusted open source community, and compared with the Basic and Enhanced levels, the Advanced level requires the community to be more specialized and automated in the management of the open source community.
The Advanced certification is not only a recognition of the achievements of HUAWEI CLOUD's three open source communities in terms of the development process, technical contributions, contributor management, and community atmosphere building, but also an affirmation of the work of the open source communities.
HUAWEI CLOUD has passed the trusted open source project certification test of the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT) and obtained the Trusted Open Source Project Evaluation Certificate by HUAWEI CLOUD for one-click construction of the distributed cloud-native platform Kurator, the cloud-native service mesh Sermant, the time series database OpenGemini, the enterprise-level front-end component library Devui, and OpenTiny Vue.
The Trusted Open Source Project focuses on the capabilities of open source projects in six aspects: license compliance, software security, software activity, technology maturity, service support, and software compatibility.
Passing the trusted open source project certification means that the above projects have passed the inspection of the industry's open source project certification standards, and the projects have high quality, high reliability, high security, and high maintainability, and these projects can provide users with a better open source software experience.
The trusted and certified open source community and open source projects have been widely used in all walks of life, providing more choices and opportunities for enterprises or individuals to better use open source technology to improve business efficiency and innovation capabilities by continuously improving the developer ecosystem and improving product ease of use.
