In order to further standardize and promote the management standards of vascular access, and to connect with the new international concepts and cutting-edge technologies of safe infusion, on January 8, the Nursing Department of the Second Hospital of Lanzhou University, together with nursing colleagues from sister hospitals in Guangxi, Yunnan, Guizhou, Xinjiang and other countries, jointly held the "Sino-European Vascular Access Academic Forum". The conference invited Professor Mauro Pittiruti, President of the World Congress on Vascular Access (WOCOVA), to give a special lecture. Zhou Wence, President of the Second Hospital of Lanzhou University, attended the meeting, and more than 200 people from many hospitals inside and outside the province attended the meeting, including directors of nursing departments and static therapy specialists. The meeting was chaired by Jiao Zuoyi, Vice President of the Second College of Lanzhou University.
Zhou Wence extended a warm welcome and heartfelt thanks to the experts and colleagues who attended the meeting. He pointed out that vascular access is a commonly used clinical implantation operation in the world, and its management and service quality are directly related to the clinical effect and the quality of life of patients, especially the quality of life of cancer chemotherapy patients. Establishing a safe and effective vascular access for patients is a common goal for the majority of medical staff. As the sixth in China and the first in Northwest China, the first Registered Association of Ontario (RNAO) Best Practice Guidelines Application Center, the vice chairman unit of the Evidence-based Nursing Committee of the Chinese Nursing Association, and the chairman unit of the Evidence-based Nursing and Static Therapy Committee of the Gansu Nursing Association, the Second Hospital of Lanzhou University cooperated with Shanghai Tongji University to carry out a multi-center research project on the clinical application of evidence-based EDUG-guided tunnel PICC in Gansu, Qingning, Ningxin, and Inner Mongolia provinces and regions in Gansu, Qingning, Ningxin, and Inner Mongolia. Through the implementation of this project, the development process of vascular access nursing management in China has been effectively promoted, a large number of specialized nursing talents have been cultivated, and the disciplinary level and professional influence of the nursing team in the Second Hospital of Lanzhou University and even the northwest region have been improved. He hoped that through the convening of this forum, an academic platform for domestic and foreign nursing colleagues to communicate and learn, understand the frontier and display their achievements can be built, and the implementation of international standards for vascular access management can be effectively promoted.
Focusing on the latest international frontier progress of PICC bundle management, Professor Mauro Pittiruti gave a detailed explanation of the latest concept of PICC in Europe from the 8 steps of bundle management with the title of "Latest Progress in PICC Catheterization Technology", and shared cases of difficult and rare PICC complications, and introduced clinical research results related to different types of subcutaneous fixation devices and tunneled PICC.
At the meeting, Dou Xinman, director of the Nursing Department of the Second Hospital of Lanzhou University, and the directors of the Nursing Department and the Static Therapy Specialist of various hospitals inside and outside the province had a heated discussion on the development and application of new technologies for vascular access, the scientific maintenance and effective management of catheters, and the identification and treatment of catheter-related complications. Dou Xinman said that with the continuous innovation of medical technology and the increasing update of patients' needs, new technologies, new concepts and new methods of vascular access management are constantly emerging, and nursing staff should deeply realize that vascular access is an important "lifeline" for patients to be effective, and they need to accelerate the internationalization of domestic vascular access management quality through continuous learning, communication and improvement.
On the basis of preliminary research and practice, the Nursing Department of the Second Hospital of Lanzhou University will cooperate with many brother hospitals in China to inspire the scientific research thinking of vascular access specialties through various forms of learning and exchanges, promote the clinical transformation of relevant research results, and provide safe, systematic and accurate vascular access guarantee for patients.
