Hello everyone, I am Ink Wenshan, thank you for your likes and attention in the past year, it is your support that gives me a steady stream of creative motivation. Today, I will tell you about the past and present life of Guanyin Bodhisattva, one of the four great bodhisattvas of Buddhism, and the fantastic story of her becoming the "god of all goodness".
1. Her real name is "Miaoshan", the little daughter of Miaozhuang Wang.
King Miaozhuang, the king of the ancient Ying Kingdom, around 1000 BC, had an unusual affection with his wife Ying, especially when his wife gave birth to three daughters in a row. The three daughters were named "Miao Yan", "Miao Yin", and "Miao Shan", and the little girl Miao Shan later became the embodiment of Guanyin Bodhisattva. During King Zhuang's pregnancy, King Zhuang dreamed that the real dragon was in the sky, indicating that the fetus must be a dragon, but when Miao Shan was born, it was a baby girl.
2. Affinity with the "Buddha".
When Miao Shan was a child, she often heard the sound of the bell chime of the White Bird Temple, which was refreshing and crisp, bringing her a feeling of physical and mental drift. She secretly went to the temple to listen to the Buddha's lectures, learned to meditate, and memorized the Amitabha Sutra, the mantra of rebirth and other classics. She is happiest during temple fairs, and temple gatherings such as pujas and fasting are the happiest times for her.
3. The life of the parents, the words of the matchmaker.
With the passage of time, King Zhuang decided that the eldest daughter and the second daughter would marry the neighboring countries, and the younger daughter Miaoshan would recruit a virtuous son-in-law with her surname to extend the inheritance of her ancestors. However, Myo Seon resolutely refused to marry, causing King Zhuang to be furious and imprisoned her in the boudoir. With nowhere else to go, Miao Shan finally came to Baique Temple and realized the spiritual life she had always dreamed of.
Fourth, the fire of the "White Bird Temple".
When King Zhuang learned that Miao Shan was practicing at the White Bird Temple, he became even more angry and decided to burn down the temple in order to force Miao Shan to return home. Miao Shan followed the monks in the fire to rescue the Dharma Instrument Wenjing, and eventually the White Bird Temple was reduced to ashes. King Zhuang was deeply remorseful and vowed to exchange everything for Miao Shan's survival.
Fifth, for the rest of his life after the catastrophe, Xiangshan became a monk and saved his father with a broken arm.
Miao Shan was rescued by the god of Xiangshan Mountain, and after learning of the disaster at the White Bird Temple, she decided to become a monk. King Zhuang was seriously ill, and to no avail, a doctor incarnated as an immortal suggested taking a certain part of Miaoshan's body as a medicine. Miao Shan resolutely cut off her arms and eyes, handed them over to the mountain god, and became the goddess of Xiangshan. King Zhuang miraculously recovered after taking this divine pill, and he was grateful.
Sixth, the great goodness is perfect, and the merit is complete.
King Zhuang found that the woman with missing arms and eyes was actually their youngest daughter Miao Shan, and the couple was devastated. King Zhuang prayed to return his daughter's arms and eyes to her, and Miaoshan became a thousand-armed and thousand-eyed Guanyin, and finally became a god, flew to the Elysium, and was named Guanyin Bodhisattva by the Buddha.
VII. Postscript.
In order to store her relics, the descendants built the Guanyin Dashi Pagoda on the top of Xiangshan, and according to the literature, the underground palace below the tower stored the relics. The Guanyin Dashi Pagoda of Xiangshan Temple has become the "Holy Tower" of Guanyin, the spirit should be special, and the incense has flourished so far.
The legendary story of Guanyin Bodhisattva, feel the compassionate power of the god of all goodness, may we all draw wisdom and courage from it, follow her example, do good deeds, make our minds peaceful, and make merit immeasurable.
I hope you enjoy this story and hope to continue to get your support and attention.
This story about Guanyin Bodhisattva's past and present lives makes people feel the long historical heritage and profound philosophy of life. The author cleverly presents readers with this magical legend that has been passed down for thousands of years.
First of all, the story shows the tolerance and understanding in traditional family values by describing the love between King Miao Zhuang and Ying. Although King Miao Zhuang lost the opportunity to continue the family bloodline, his love and understanding for his three daughters made people feel the warmth of the family. Such depictions of human nature are reflected in the qualities of compassion and wisdom emphasized in the Buddhist tradition.
Secondly, Miao Shan's pursuit of Buddhism in the story shows a woman's perseverance and courage in a feudal society. In the face of adversity, Miao Shan chose to practice Buddhism and eventually became Guanyin Bodhisattva, which not only reflects her personal transcendence, but also implies the purification of the mind and a deep understanding of human nature. Her kindness and wisdom are on full display in the story, presenting the reader with a noble character.
The scene of the burning of the White Bird Temple in the story shows the contradiction between the concept of family and the status of women in feudal society. King Zhuang's anger and incomprehension eventually led to the destruction of the White Bird Temple. This scene is not only a question of feudal etiquette, but also an expression of women's faith and pursuit of freedom. This kind of social phenomenon makes the story more in-depth and connotative.
Miao Shan finally sacrifices her own arm to save her father, which is a high presentation of family responsibility and affection. Her sacrifice brought about King Zhuang's healing, but it also gave her a nobler form of existence. This episode makes people think deeply about the relationship between family and responsibility, and at the same time provokes reflections on sacrifice and fulfillment.
Finally, the story ends with the image of Guanyin Bodhisattva with a thousand hands and a thousand eyes, expressing her wish to still have compassion for all beings after becoming an immortal. This is not only an affirmation of the Buddhist spirit of Guanyin Bodhisattva's compassion and purity for all sentient beings, but also leaves a kind of guide for the reader to be more positive in real life.
Overall, this essay skillfully incorporates elements of family emotion, social ethics, and religious beliefs by telling the story of Guanyin's past and present lives. The author tells the story as a mountain of ink and wash, presenting readers with a picture full of poetry and philosophy. This magical story is thought-provoking, so that people not only feel the charm of literature in reading, but also come into contact with a profound philosophy of life.
