Concept: Captured model.

The Captured Models section displays all the models that have been captured in the currently open project. Double-click a model in the tree to open it in SOLIDWORKS.

1.Activate by clicking on the title in the Capture ExplorerCaptured Models section.

2.Expand the tree and double-click DriveWorks Solo in the task panewallto open it in SOLIDWORKS.

This will also automatically change the task pane to the Dimensions and Features section.

DriveWorks controls which dimensions and features for each component you selected in the previous section. You don't need to capture the dimensions and characteristics of each component.

Concept: SOLIDWORKS naming.

SOLIDWORKS has its own name for each dimension or feature. The next step will be to make sure that each captured item has a name that makes sense to you.

Selecting a dimension and or feature in the model or SOLIDWORKS feature tree adds the SOLIDWORKS address to the Address text box in the DriveWorks task pane.

Concept: Design intent.

At this point, you need to understand the design intent we apply to your model. We mainly use planes in the model and then attach sketch geometry to planes. Therefore, changing the plane offset changes the size of the model.

At the end of this training, there is a section on automated modeling that you can apply to your model.

For now, we've listed the location of each dimension or feature in the model below.

For walls, we'll capture the opening dimensions。This is driven by 2 planes called SOW and SOH (they represent the width of the structural opening and the height of the structural opening).

In order to allow you to select these dimensions, you need to double-click on each plane in turn and then select the dimensions that appear.

Tip: If you double-click the text of a plane, SOLIDWORKS prompts you to change its name. Don't do it. Instead, double-click the airplane's icon. If you do, you will see the dimensions of the plane appear in the model window.

3.Double-click planesow's icon, and then click the dimension that appears. The SOLIDWORKS name for the dimension is displayed in the DriveWorks Solo task pane.

The icons in the Solo tab will indicate what you have selected. In this case, make sure you're choosing a size and not a flat one!

Tip: If you're having trouble choosing a size, you may have Instant3D turned on. This will prevent you from selecting the dimensions you want to capture in the model window. If this is the case, a link will appear in the DriveWorks Solo task pane. Close Instant3D to continue.

4.In the Name text box, enterStructural opening width, and then clickAdd

5.The same principle is followed for SOH planes and their dimensions. Name itStructure Opening Height

6.Click againAdd

You can then see these two dimensions in the tree view.

We have now finished capturing the parameters of the wall.
