The history of traditional medicine in China has a long history, starting from Shennong's taste of herbs in ancient times, after thousands of years of accumulation, to the Western Han Dynasty, has reached a very high level. Sima Qian deliberately created "The Biography of Bian Que Canggong", which recorded the stories of two famous doctors, Bian Que and Chun Yuyi, in order to promote their demeanor. This book selects Bian Que as a representative.

Bian Que (year of birth and death unknown), surnamed Ji, Qin, named Yue, was a native of Bohai County (Mò) County (now Renqiu City, Hebei Province) in the Spring and Autumn Period of Qi State. The famous doctor in the history of our country is respected as the "ancestor of medicine".

When Qin Yue was young, he worked as a supervisor in an inn, and there was a guest named Chang Sangjun who often came to stay. The other clerks ignored him, only Qin Yue people thought he was a strange person and were very respectful to him, and Chang Sangjun also secretly observed Qin Yue people.

One day more than ten years later, Chang Sangjun said to him: "I have a family prescription, and now that I am old, I want to teach it to you, and you have to keep it secret." Qin Yue people immediately agreed, and after hard study, their medical skills became more and more sophisticated.

Since then, Qin Yue people have practiced medicine in Qi and Zhao countries, and because they are good at summarizing and learning, they have deep attainments in pediatrics, surgery and internal medicine, and have saved many lives. The people of Zhao regarded him as an auspicious magpie and called him Bian Que, and over time, the world called him by this name.

Once, Bian Que passed by the Kingdom of Yu (now Sanmenxia City, Henan Province) and met the prince of the Kingdom of Qiu, who died of illness. Bian Que came to the palace and asked the concubine, who was well-versed in medical skills, and said, "What disease does the prince have, and why are sacrifices being held in the country to dispel diseases and eliminate evil spirits?"”

Zhongshuzi introduced the prince's **, Bian Que felt that the prince was not sick and dead, but seriously ill and in shock, and asked: "When did the prince die of illness?"The middle concubine said: "Those who died when the rooster crowed, have not yet been buried." ”

Bian Que thought that the prince was still saved, and hurriedly said: "I am Qin Yueren, a doctor from Qi State, and I can resurrect the prince." Zhongshuzi didn't believe it, Bian Que even said a few symptoms, and he was right.

When the monarch heard the report, he was very surprised and went to the gate to greet him in person. Bian Que asked the students to take out silver needles and medicines, and used acupuncture and medicinal ironing to revive the prince at once, and then prescribed a decoction and let him take it for 20 days, and the prince's body completely recovered.

After this incident came out, everyone in the world thought that Bian Que could come back to life, and Bian Que said humbly: "I can't resurrect the dead, the prince didn't die, I just let him **." ”

Bian Que came to the State of Qi, and Qi Huan Gongtian Wu warmly entertained him. Bian Que found that Qi Huangong's face was wrong, and said: "The king has a minor illness, between ** and muscles, he must be treated as soon as possible." Qi Huan Gong said unhappily: "The widow is not sick. ”

Bian Que said goodbye, and Qi Huan Gong said disdainfully to the people around him: "Doctors like to say that people who are not sick are sick, so as to show their skills." ”

Five days later, Bian Que saw Qi Huan Gong again and said, "The king's illness has penetrated deep into the blood, and if it is not treated, I am afraid it will penetrate deep into the body." Qi Huan Gong is still stubborn.

After five days, Bian Que continued to persuade: "The king's illness has penetrated deep into his internal organs, and he must be cured quickly!"Qi Huan Gong was very unhappy.

Five days later, Bian Que came to see Qi Huan Gong again, only glanced at it, and hurriedly retreated and ran away. Qi Huan sent someone to ask the reason.

Bian Que replied: "The disease is between the skin and the flesh, and the decoction can be **;."In the blood, acupuncture can exert its effectiveness; In the stomach and intestines, medicinal liquor can also be **. If the disease penetrates deep into the bone marrow, even the gods cannot do anything about it. Now the king's illness has penetrated deep into the marrow of his bones, so I hastened away and said no more about healing! After another five days, Qi Huan Gong was really ill and sent someone to invite Bian Que, Bian Que had already fled, and Qi Huan Gong soon died of illness.

According to legend, after Bian Que left the Qi State, he healed the people along the way, all the way to Xianyang, the capital of the Qin State. It happened that King Wu of Qin Juding injured his waist, and the imperial physician of Qin, Li Li (xī), used many medicines, but to no avail. When King Wu of Qin heard that Bian Que was coming, he hurriedly sent someone to invite him. After Bian Que was diagnosed, he used the method of massage to alleviate the low back pain, and used decoction to cure the disease.

King Wu of Qin was very happy and was ready to let Bian Que serve as the imperial doctor, Li Li was jealous of Bian Que and slandered King Wu of Qin, saying that he was a man in the rivers and lakes and was not reliable, and King Wu of Qin would be suspicious. In order to cut the grass and eradicate the roots, Li Li sent assassins to assassinate Bian Que, but was discovered by Bian Que's **, and Bian Que immediately fled from Qin. Li Li sent Assassins to follow him and kill him halfway through.

As a famous doctor in the Spring and Autumn Period, Bian Que played a role in the development of ancient Chinese medicine in China. He has contributed to the development of internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics and the first medicine, and summarized the diagnostic methods of Chinese medicine to see, smell, ask and cut. At the same time, Bian Que attaches great importance to the early prevention of diseases, which has important inspiration for modern medicine.
